Chapter 72: After Class, Come Into My Arms (70)
Asi opened the car door and stepped out.
She glanced down at the petals beneath her feet. Then she looked over at the restaurant decorations, and turned back to cast a rather plaintive look at Lu Yu.
She spread her hands. "I didn’t even get to change clothes."
She was still in her school uniform. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and her eyes were clear as water, making her look adorably innocent.
Lu Yu walked over and naturally took her small hand in his. With a smile, he said, "You look beautiful already."
Asi pressed her lips together, her gaze fixed on Lu Yu. "Really?"
Her voice was soft and gentle.
Lu Yu bent down and pinched her cheek. "Really."
When they entered, a server led them up to the fourth floor.
The bright hall was empty of people.
Cakes and pastries filled the whole room.
A large bouquet of fresh flowers sat in the center of the dining table.
It was stunning.
Soothing music began to play.
Lu Yu never let go of Asi’s little hand. Seeing the amazement in her eyes made his heart race wildly.
Yet he couldn’t help but worry.
"Asi, do you like it?"
Asi nodded honestly. "It’s beautiful."
She reached out and pointed at the roses on the table, then glanced to the side.
She asked cautiously, "Can I eat them?"
Delicate little cakes were arranged all around the restaurant, looking sweet and tempting.
Asi licked her lips, her eyes sparkling.
Because he was planning to confess tonight, Lu Yu was especially nervous; even his words came slowly. "No, you can’t. We’re about to have dinner, so just look at them for now."
"Only to look, not to eat?" Asi frowned in disappointment. "Isn’t that such a waste?"
Lu Yu, a little flustered, rubbed his earlobe, then pulled Asi to sit down.
"The food will be served soon. If you want, you can have some after dinner."
At this, Asi broke into a smile.
Eager for the little cakes, she barely touched the dishes on the table.
Lu Yu frowned, picked up some food, and put it in her bowl, saying sternly, "Eat your food, or you won’t get even a piece."
"Okay."
Asi had no choice but to listen and start eating.
All the cakes had been bought by Lu Yu to set the mood.
After dinner, he watched the little girl happily carrying a few bags filled with cakes; the rose bouquet in his hand suddenly seemed unnecessary.
He felt that giving Asi sweet treats was more effective than roses.
But his phone had told him that girls all love roses.
So, as they got in the car, Lu Yu handed Asi the bouquet of roses.
A rich fragrance filled the air.
Asi was already delighted, her arms filled with cakes.
"Xiaobai, thank you," she said, reaching up to rub her eyes. At night, her eyes shone even more brightly, as if sprinkled with stardust.
Lu Yu’s heart softened into a warm tangle.
"Tired?" he asked, a little nervously—after all, he hadn’t confessed his feelings yet.
Asi shook her head. "Are we going somewhere else?"
"Yes," Lu Yu gently ruffled her hair. "The amusement park."
The amusement park at night.
Bathed in soft lights.
Surely, she would say yes to him, wouldn’t she?
Lu Yu was far from certain.
All the way there, he was a bundle of nerves and excitement.
He didn’t notice at all that two conspicuous cars were trailing behind them.
Their hiding was so clumsy, they might as well not have bothered.
Chao Yun, wearing black sunglasses and a black trench coat, looked as if she would melt into the darkness itself.
She’d suspected for days that something was off with Lu Yu—she hadn’t expected he was planning a confession.
She was practically fuming.
She absolutely couldn’t let Lu Yu succeed.
In the other car, Mo Tan—dressed just like Chao Yun—was simply there for the spectacle.
The Demon Realm’s most cold-hearted, ruthless lord! And now he was falling in love—with a fairy from the Celestial Palace, no less.
How sensational!
