Lade had been staying at home with Asa for quite some time now. Asa’s fur had mostly fallen out by this point. Over the past few days, Mrs. Griffin had been finding various excuses to visit Lade’s home, often accompanied by other knights. Harris had also come once, bringing Lade an enormous piece of pork. Harris was soon to be wed to Daisy and had specially brought the gift to invite Lade to their wedding.

At first, Lade declined the invitation, but when Asa heard there would be sweets, her eyes lit up. Although she stayed quiet and well-behaved, Lade agreed. If the little girl liked it, then he would like it too.

The day before Harris’s wedding, he arrived at Lade’s home with a group of knights. “Lade, I’m getting married tomorrow. Let’s go drinking!” It was common for the knights of Red Hat Town to gather the night before their weddings for a celebration. Though Lade was not a knight himself, he and Asa had tamed a fierce dragon together—a feat that earned great respect among the knights. This was their way of acknowledging Lade.

Yet… Lade didn’t really need their approval.

“Lade, come join us!”
“Yes, come have a drink with us. We owe you an apology for the past!”

Lade found it hard to refuse such an invitation from so many knights. Though he harbored little affection for them, like other boys in town, he felt a natural awe and desire to be close to the knights. He had once been hurt by their bullying, but now they were inviting him warmly.

Lade nodded. “Wait for me, I’ll go tell Asa.” Upon hearing this, Harris and the others burst out laughing.
“I bet Lade’s wedding isn’t far off!”
“Right? He even asks the little lady before going out! After marriage, he’ll surely be kept on a tight leash by his little wife!”

After speaking with Asa, Lade left for Harris’s home.

—

The full moon cast a silver glow over everything. Asa had originally been sitting on the doorstep waiting for Lade, but he hadn’t returned yet. She couldn’t help but fall asleep, feeling the moonlight so beautifully soothing against her skin.

Outside, Mrs. Griffin stood with a group of townsfolk.
“Mrs. Griffin, why have you brought us here?”
“I suspect Lade is hiding a wolf in his house.”

Mrs. Griffin liked Lade, but her dislike for wolves was far stronger.

“What? Lade is hiding a wolf?”
Mrs. Griffin hushed them. “Go inform Harris quietly. Don’t tell Lade. I suspect that little girl is the wolf!”

“Look at the full moon up there. The wolf clan transforms back at this time each month. Let’s sneak in and take a look.”
“No, we can’t just go in. Let’s wait for Harris to arrive!”

Mrs. Griffin frowned. “But what if the wolf changes back to human form when Harris gets here? How will we be sure? Let’s watch from the wall of my house.”

The group followed her inside. Standing on stools, they peered toward Lade’s home. In the yard lay a sleeping girl bathed in moonlight, her face pale and delicate. She occasionally puckered her lips in the most adorable way.

But…

Her fluffy ears and tail were exposed clearly to their view.

Ah! She was revealed!

Guess what happens next?
