Chapter Three: After Class, Come Into My Arms (1)
#Sweetheart, stand still, let me give you a hug#
In April, the weather in Wen City was still a bit dry. The students at school had already begun to change into their summer uniforms one after another.
A Si walked slowly into Class One of Grade Eleven, following behind Teacher Li while hugging her backpack. She kept her head down, and a few strands of hair fell across her forehead; she reached up and tucked them behind her ear, revealing a pair of small, delicate white ears.
The classroom after class was somewhat noisy.
Teacher Li stood at the podium, tapping the blackboard with the chalkboard eraser and said, “Everyone quiet down. Let me introduce the new student.”
“Teacher, is it a boy or a girl?” The boys in the back, who were notorious for causing trouble, immediately looked toward the entrance with curiosity when they heard there was a new student.
“Come on, even girls wouldn’t be interested in you. Just look at yourself!” The boy who had spoken first pulled his friend over and said, “Don’t be picky, son. Where did you learn that attitude?”
“Go away, go away.” Teacher Li tapped the blackboard again. “Those of you in the back who just swore, come to my office after school.”
A chorus of groans erupted in the back, but Teacher Li ignored them.
She beckoned A Si at the door, her previously stern expression softening immediately, which made everyone in the classroom stare in surprise.
“Hello, my name is A Si,” the girl said as she stepped in slowly, perhaps out of nervousness. Her soft, pale hands clutched the backpack straps tightly, her rosy lips pressed together, and the dimples at her cheeks flickered in and out of sight.
She raised her head slightly, her moist eyes uncertainly scanning the crowd below.
She pressed her lips together again.
“Whoa! Teacher, where did you find such a little cutie!” someone exclaimed.
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
“From now on, A Si will be studying here with everyone. You mustn’t bully her just because she’s a transfer student,” Teacher Li instructed, then led A Si to an empty seat at the back.
“Thank you, Teacher.” A Si placed her backpack on the desk and smiled at the teacher before sitting upright in her chair. Her lips were pressed together, and uncertainty lingered in her damp eyes.
This world was completely different from the mortal realm she had known…
She looked down at her clothes—white short sleeves and a black-and-white skirt. A Si puffed out her cheeks in dissatisfaction. It was too revealing. Even in the Heavenly Palace, she had never dressed like this.
“Your name is A Si?” a raspy voice suddenly sounded.
A Si turned her head.
Her deskmate was a very beautiful girl; her slightly wavy hair was pulled back. Her voice carried the roughness of someone freshly awakened, along with an inexplicable charm.
The girl propped her head with one hand, her lovely eyes sizing up her new seatmate.
A Si felt a little shy under her gaze, her cheeks reddening. She whispered, “Hello, classmate.”
That should be the right way to greet someone, shouldn’t it? Start with a hello.
A Si looked at the girl, her moist eyes tinged with shyness.
She was so beautiful—A Si had never seen such an attractive girl even in the Heavenly Palace.
“You really are adorable,” He Rose said, eyeing the dimples that flickered on A Si’s cheeks. She reached out and pinched them, smiling when she saw the girl’s eyes widen in surprise.
“Call me Rose,” she said—not He Rose, just Rose. Her tone lifted slightly, hinting at intimacy.
A Si quietly observed Rose’s expression. Considering how pretty she was, she decided to forgive her for pinching her cheek just now.
She took everything out of her backpack, most of which she had never seen before.
A Si felt a bit discouraged, a bit heartbroken.
She had been so good to Xiao Bai, yet he had pushed her down in the end.
