Chapter 128 [Fairy Tale] He Has a Little Gray Wolf (53)

The full moon overhead was terrifying.
It had begun to glow red.
The courtyard reeked heavily of blood.
Ryder clenched his fists tight.
His heart pounded frantically, again and again.
“Where is she?”
Mrs. Griffin was being helped up from the ground. One of her arms was drenched in blood, while the other was scored with bleeding claw marks.
The moment Ryder spoke, everyone turned to look at him.
Mrs. Griffin was the first to complain. “Ryder! Do you know what happened? That little girl was a wolf! How could you be so foolish? Thank goodness I killed the vicious beast!”
Mrs. Griffin looked immensely proud of herself.
As soon as she finished speaking, the people around her gazed at her with undisguised admiration.
“That’s right, Ryder. Just look at Mrs. Griffin. She may be old and have no magic, but she still managed to kill a wolf!”
Ryder said nothing. He stared at the pools of blood on the ground.
Following the trail, he entered the house.
There he saw the torn-open bag of date cakes.
His heart felt as though someone had ripped it apart, letting a cold wind howl through the wound.
He seemed to have forgotten how to breathe.
His eyes held nothing but that bloodstained bag of date cakes.
If the little girl were still here, she would surely say:
“Ryder, you’re back! I missed you so much. Why did you take so long to come home?
“I secretly ate one of the date cakes.
“Now that you’re back, feed me another one.”

As Ryder thought of this, a tear suddenly slipped down his cheek, then another.
“Mrs. Griffin, how did you get hurt so badly? Was it that wolf?”
“Yes, it was awful!”
“Good heavens, how did I fail to notice? That little girl was actually a wolf!”
“Mrs. Griffin, you should hurry and see a doctor. Your injuries are serious!”
The full moon grew rounder and redder.
It looked as though it had been dyed in blood.
The wind began to howl, shaking the great door of Ryder’s house.
With a bang, the door slammed shut.
“Why is the wind so strong?” someone muttered under his breath, scarcely giving it a second thought.
“No one is allowed to leave.”
A deep, hoarse voice suddenly rang out, carrying a chilling coldness.
“Ryder, what are you doing? That thing was a wolf! Our enemy—the enemy of Red Hat Town!” Harris shouted, utterly unable to understand Ryder’s behavior.
The little girl had indeed seemed kind, and she and Ryder had been very close.
But a wolf was still a wolf.
Ryder repeated, “A wolf?”
He lowered his head. Beneath the moonlight, his flaxen curls slowly turned silver. Even his turquoise eyes gradually darkened until they became a deep ink blue.
They were like enormous whirlpools—
gloomy and obsessive.
“You killed her. You actually killed her.”
“She was mine. Mine—my Asi.”

“You killed her.”
He repeated the words over and over.
Then he suddenly raised his head.
His ink-blue eyes fixed upon the crowd.
Harris felt as though a demon had set its sights on him.
Then he saw Ryder raise his hand, black flames surging from his palm.
The wind around them grew louder and louder.
Harris’s eyes widened as he stared at the black fire in Ryder’s hand.
He cried out, “It—it’s dark magic!”
Ryder let out a harsh, sinister laugh, yet his eyes held not the slightest trace of emotion.
“You will all pay the price!”
The gale whipped up clouds of dust, stinging everyone unbearably.
And Mrs. Griffin, already wounded, suffered even more.
“Ryder! Are you really going to do this? We’re all from the same town!”
“You’re going to kill us for a vicious wolf?”
Lately, I’ve been rather fond of adorable boys. But I like Ryder even more after his descent into darkness.
Hahaha, I think I’m actually quite suited to writing obsessive, possessive characters! No objections will be accepted!
