Asi felt a surge of grievance under that hateful gaze. She hadn't done anything wrong; why did they have to look at her like that?

Pouting unhappily, Asi walked to the center of the courtyard, then suddenly stopped. She said softly, "Can you all just pretend that today never happened? I love Reid so much; I don't want to leave here."

Her eyes were misty, and she looked pitiful. Her voice was soft and gentle. However, she was facing a group of humans who harbored an intense loathing for the wolf pack. Although a few felt a flicker of sympathy, it vanished immediately after a sharp glare from those around them.

Greed, perched on Asi's shoulder, mocked her after hearing her words: "Asi, they are humans, the least kind-hearted creatures of all! They are the most unreasonable! And yet you're begging them!"

"I'm not begging them," Asi defended herself. "I just... I just don't want things to be this way. They used to bring food for me and Reid, but now..."

They acted as if they couldn't wait to kill her. This made Asi feel so, so sad. Why did their feelings change so easily?

"Hmph, that is the nature of human hearts—they change at a whim. I can never fathom them."

Asi nodded in firm agreement.

"So, are we going back to the Black Forest now?" Asi asked, head bowed, clearly reluctant. "But I like Reid so much, and I love Reid's home."

"Why go back to the Black Forest? You're a wolf! Are you afraid of them? Just shift into your true form, and you can bite them to death in one gulp!" Greed said excitedly from her shoulder, making Asi shrink back.

She looked at Greed with disapproval. "Greed-Greed, you're too cruel. I can't do that."

Unable to bring herself to do that, Asi resorted to a soft-hearted attempt at persuasion.

"You should leave now, or else I'll turn into a wolf and swallow you in one bite." Asi said this very seriously, her dark eyes glowing with a faint light. She even opened her mouth to emphasize the point.

She looked as adorable as could be. It didn't scare Mrs. Griffin and the others at all.

"Hmph! Your wolf pack killed my two sons! I will risk my life today to kill you and avenge them!"

Asi finally understood; Mrs. Griffin hated her because she wanted revenge for her sons. But...

"It wasn't me who killed your sons, so why do you want revenge on me?" Asi looked at Mrs. Griffin with disapproval and said, "What you're doing is very wrong. Even if you kill me, it won't avenge your sons. You should go find the wolf who actually killed them."

After saying this, Asi remembered she was part of the wolf pack and added, "Besides, how do you know the wolf killed your sons first? What if your sons killed the wolf first, and then the wolf killed your sons to avenge its own kind?"

Asi looked incredibly earnest as she spoke.

Mrs. Griffin was incensed.

"You lying, wicked wolf! It is clearly your pack that is in the wrong, yet you dare blame my sons! I am going to beat you to death today!"

With that, Mrs. Griffin disregarded everything else, raised her hoe, and charged forward.

Asi frowned. She disliked impulsive people like this the most. She hadn't said anything wrong. It was simply the truth; the two races were constantly at war, resulting in countless deaths on both sides. It was impossible to tell who was right and who was wrong.

She let out a soft sigh, watching Mrs. Griffin rush toward her with the hoe raised high.

Sigh, she was really underestimating her.
