Lu Yu paid no attention to the dean of students. He glanced at him, then bowed his head in silence, his gaze lingering on the girl's pale, delicate fingers. She seemed quite nervous, constantly clutching and releasing the hem of her dress.

The dean cast a cold glance at Lu Yu and snorted. If you ignore me, I'll ignore you as well.

“You, explain what happened here!”

He was referring to Jiang Xiaorui's friend. After being called on, she instinctively looked at Jiang Xiaorui. When she met the girl's gaze, she nodded in understanding.

She said, “Teacher, she was the one who threw water at us first!”

He Meigui rolled her eyes and smiled. “Teacher, I admit I splashed water on them, but they were the ones who started it.”

“You—!”

“Enough! He Meigui, tell me, why did they pick a fight with you?”

The dean frowned. After all, He Meigui's father was one of the school board directors; he had to show some consideration. Still, he was always strict—if He Meigui was in the wrong, he wouldn't take her side.

He Meigui glanced at Su Jing, a sly smile curving her lips. “Of course, it was because... of a man.”

As expected, the dean's face darkened.

But just then, Su Jing suddenly walked over to He Meigui, head lowered, cheeks flushed crimson. “Teacher, I'm sorry.”

He hadn't focused on his studies in high school. Instead... he fell in love early.

“Teacher, I like Meigui. But it seems Jiang misunderstood me, so she came to cause trouble for Meigui. I was afraid Meigui would be bullied, so I called you.”

He was afraid something would happen to Meigui.

Jiang Xiaorui's face turned dark once more.

Su Jing had always been a student he was proud of—who would have thought! Who would have thought!

The dean's expression soured, and his mood plummeted. He turned, glaring at Lu Yu. “And what are you doing here? Why are you getting involved in someone else's business?”

The situation couldn't be clearer: two girls fighting over Su Jing. But what was Lu Yu doing here? These students, honestly, are nothing but trouble!

When Lu Yu heard his name called, he immediately straightened, lowered his head, and fixed his gentle gaze on the girl's face.

He said, “Reporting to the teacher, there are all sorts of people here who might bully Asi.”

As he finished, he raised his eyebrows slightly, a touch of mischief in his expression. The smile at the corners of his lips refused to fade as he looked at the girl.

The dean's plump body gave an involuntary shudder at Lu Yu's sweet, sugary demeanor.

He roared, “Whoever threw the water stays behind to clean up! The rest of you, write a thousand-word reflection, signed by your parents!”

Lu Yu shrugged indifferently, took the girl's hand, and said to He Meigui, “Do your best.”

Asi was dragged away, reluctant and unwilling. She glanced back at Meigui, as if seeking her opinion, but the boy pulled her firmly into his arms.

He Meigui picked up the mop and arched her brow at Su Jing. “You're going to make me do this alone?”

She didn’t give a whit about the looks from Jiang Xiaorui and her group of friends. With the mop in one hand and her other hand resting on Su Jing’s shoulder, the two of them stood very close together.

Su Jing’s face turned scarlet. He stammered, “I—I’ll do it.”

He snatched the mop from He Meigui and began to clean. Meigui stood by, directing him with an air of authority, while the boy offered not a single word of complaint. Occasionally, he would even look up and smile.

There was a remarkable harmony between the two of them, as if no one else could come between them.

Jiang Xiaorui, in a fit of self-torment, glanced at the retreating figures of Lu Yu and Asi, then at Su Jing and He Meigui. At last, she stamped her foot furiously, gathered her group of friends, and fled in disarray.
