Chapter 130: Fairy Tale - He Has a Little Gray Wolf (55)
"Is he... is he going to eat us?"
The two knights outside were terrified to the core. Then, they watched as the youth inside stood up. The black flames surrounding him flared even more violently.
"Ah! He's coming over!"
Unexpectedly, the youth, who had been looking at the statue with such tenderness, suddenly turned a gloomy gaze toward them.
"Keep it down!"
"You're disturbing Asi!"
He glared fiercely at the two knights. He carried the small wolf inside, and when he emerged, he held a chicken. He started a fire in the yard and began to roast it.
He muttered to himself, "If Asi doesn't want the date cakes, then she'll have to eat roasted chicken. You aren't allowed to refuse, or it would be a waste of food."
"Isn't Asi the best little girl? You have to eat when you wake up."
Red flames and black flames intertwined.
The two knights had long since fled in terror. They scrambled into a dilapidated house and slammed the door shut. When they looked back, they were shocked into fainting.
It was that same ferocious wolf statue again, with a room full of people kneeling on the ground. Their bodies were covered in burn marks, and the smell of blood mingled with the stench of decay filled the air.
"Save us..."
"Save us..."
Poor knights; they had only intended to go to the Black Forest to gather herbs.
As a result, they were scared senseless in Red Hat Town.
The wind howled, but it failed to extinguish the black flames around Reid. Instead, they grew even more intense. Reid focused intently on roasting the chicken, his eyes half-lowered. He gazed tenderly at the small wolf in his arms, stroking it gently with one hand.
"Asi, it will be ready soon. Don't be impatient."
He still remembered how, every time he roasted chicken for Asi in the past, she would get tears in her eyes from impatience before it was even fully cooked, as if she feared he would snatch her food away.
Remembering the little girl, Reid suddenly let out a low laugh. His ink-blue eyes were filled with a deep, obsessive fixation, mixed with a dark, brooding melancholy.
If one looked closely, tiny black flames were even flickering amidst the silver curls on Reid's head.
A sudden gust of wind blew, extinguishing the red flames.
Panic instantly flooded Reid's eyes.
"Why did the fire go out?"
"Asi, don't worry. I'll relight it. Right away, it will be ready right away."
Reid collapsed to the ground. Ignoring the searing heat of the fire pit, he began frantically raking through the embers with his bare hands. His palms were scorched red, but he suddenly fell to his knees and began to weep.
"Asi, won't you please say something?"
"I beg you, stop sleeping..."
He sat on the ground, cradling the small wolf with his uninjured hand, but as he stroked it, he could feel only the icy temperature of the statue.
The tenderness in Reid's eyes vanished, replaced by an overwhelming sense of dread.
"Asi, what's wrong? Why are you so cold!"
"Asi! Wake up!"
"I beg you, wake up..."
The black flames around him surged, rising with a power that seemed to pierce the heavens.
Next door, Mrs. Griffin, who had been kneeling on the ground and cursing, suddenly fell silent. She curled up in agony. "It's so hot! It's so hot!"
It wasn't just her; in the nearby Black Forest, the plants were withering one by one in rapid succession.
The people of Red Hat Town were suffering, tormented by the heat. They were the closest to Reid, and their bodies were being ravaged by the intensity of his fury.
Reid had sealed off the entire Red Hat Town. No one could leave.
They could only... wait for death.
Reid intended for them to pray for that wolf while they lived, and to be buried with her when they died!
That's right! He was just that wicked!
