Chapter Six: After Class, She Came Into My Arms (4)
Asi tilted her head upward, her moist eyes brimming with unhappiness. She puffed out her cheeks and, facing the boy cornered against the wall by a group, said, "Classmate, don't be afraid." Asi's eyes widened, their wetness soft and gentle. She curved her lips at the boy standing in the corner, revealing two round dimples beside her cheeks.
Step by step, she walked toward him, ignoring the gang of delinquents surrounding them. Lu Yu stood pressed against the wall, his dark eyes gazing at the girl. He leaned casually against the bricks, his tongue pressing against his molars. His black-and-white school uniform was spotless, accentuating his fine figure.
"Little lady, you'd better stay out of things that don't concern you," drawled a tall, skinny boy with dyed blond hair as he walked over. He reached out, intending to touch Asi, but she slapped his hand away. Asi looked up at him, her brows unconsciously furrowing. How strange, she thought, to see someone with such an odd color of hair.
She pursed her lips, making her dimples deeper. To her, these people looked terribly unattractive.
"This is not meddling," Asi raised her head and earnestly looked at the blond, saying, "He is my classmate. So many of you bullying just one person—it's wrong."
Asi's small face was solemn as she addressed the gang. Her tone was heartfelt: "You should be studying. What you're doing is not good." In this world, at their age, shouldn't they be students? And shouldn't students be learning? Asi lowered her head in contemplation and decided she hadn't said anything wrong. She looked up again, her gaze firm as she faced the crowd before her.
Suddenly, laughter erupted around them. The tall, burly red-haired boy stepped up to Asi and chuckled, "Little girl, are you here to make jokes?" That tone...
Lu Yu straightened up, his face full of displeasure as he looked at the boy standing before Asi. The boy tried to touch Asi, but the blond beside him interjected, "Bro, this chick hits hard, you'd better be careful." The blond finished, grinning slyly at the red-haired boy.
Asi frowned. Their gazes were so lecherous—she disliked it. She pressed her lips tightly together, hands gripping the straps of her backpack. Quietly, she said, "Don't touch me." Her voice was small and gentle—without the slightest threat.
"Little girl, you started this. Instead of going straight home after school, you chose this path. You brought this on yourself," the red-haired boy said, reaching to grab Asi.
Lu Yu, standing in the corner, was just about to rush forward and punch the boy when, in the blink of an eye, the red-haired thug crashed to the ground.
"Whoa!" Asi stood where she was, her eyes bewildered, a look of innocence on her face—she appeared nothing like someone who had just thrown to the ground a man twice her size. The girl frowned, her dimples showing again. She reached up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, revealing a pair of delicate, pale ears.
Softly, she said, "I told you not to touch me—you didn't listen." Asi gazed at the boy writhing on the ground, wailing. A flicker of fear crossed her face—had she killed him with that throw? The very thought terrified her. What would happen if she accidentally killed someone among mortals? Humans were so fragile.
Asi looked up at Lu Yu, still standing in the corner. She bit her lip—well, she had only acted to save someone, after all. The boy looked so pitiful. If she hadn't passed by, he might have been beaten to death.
Asi walked up to the boy, grabbed his wrist, and said seriously, "Let's hurry and go."
