Chapter 123: Fairy Tale - He Has a Little Grey Wolf (48)
“Asi, someone is spying on you!”
“It looks like you’ve been found out as a wolf!”
Greedy floated above the group, glancing at the drowsy Asi sleeping in the courtyard, feeling a headache coming on.
“Huh?”
Asi groggily opened her eyes, looking around the empty yard, thinking Ryder had returned.
“Asi, the old lady next door sent people to catch you!”
Mrs. Griffin and the others had left when Asi woke up. When Asi looked toward the corner of the wall, there was no one in sight.
She immediately stood up, her tail lifting high behind her.
Walking to the wall that separated her from the neighbors, she pricked up her ears.
Sure enough, a rustling sound came from the other side of the wall, noisy and confused.
There must be many people.
Asi pressed her lips together, her dark eyes glowing faintly cold under the moonlight.
There was a knock at the door.
Asi didn’t rush to open it.
Instead, she went inside first and put on the red cloak Ryder had given her.
This cloak could repel attacks from knights.
But only to a certain extent.
Just as Asi finished putting on the cloak, she heard the front door being slammed open.
Mrs. Griffin held a hoe in her hand and locked eyes with Asi.
She chuckled awkwardly. “Asi, isn’t Ryder home?”
She spoke while stepping closer to Asi.
Behind her followed a group of Red Hood Town’s people.
Asi frowned.
These people clearly knew Ryder had been called away by Harris for drinks, so why ask this?
She nodded. “Mrs. Griffin, I saw you climbing over the wall just now.”
Asi removed the cloak’s hood, her two gray ears shining even brighter in the moonlight.
For a moment, the group’s faces turned pale, then their expressions twisted into disgust.
“Since you admit it, we won’t hide it anymore. Why have you come to our Red Hood Town?” someone shouted.
Asi lifted her head and looked at the full moon in the sky.
Softly she said, “Because Ryder is here.”
Her voice was so faint that Mrs. Griffin and the others couldn’t hear clearly.
Because Ryder is here, that’s why she came.
Asi pursed her lips and smiled.
She couldn’t let them hear that. The wolf clan and the townsfolk of Red Hood were sworn enemies. If they knew she had such a close relationship with Ryder, he would definitely be implicated.
“Because... I happened to be injured.”
Mrs. Griffin said upon hearing this, “I knew it! That kind-hearted Ryder! He rescues everything that comes his way!”
Asi frowned unhappily, glaring with her dark eyes.
She wasn’t some object!
Wait, something seemed off?
Asi blinked but didn’t refute Mrs. Griffin’s words. Instead, she said, “Ryder doesn’t know I’m a wolf. If he did...”
Mrs. Griffin immediately interrupted, “Don’t worry! If Ryder knew you were a wolf, he definitely wouldn’t save you! You’re the enemy of Red Hood Town! Today, you’ll pay!”
As soon as Mrs. Griffin finished, the people behind her raised their weapons.
Asi stepped forward calmly, her gaze as clear as if reflecting the moonlight.
“You all?” Asi curved her lips into a smile. “I’m a wolf. Even if you outnumber me, you can’t beat me.”
She spoke while moving toward the doorway.
Mrs. Griffin and her group had no choice but to retreat step by step.
Their eyes were filled with hatred as they looked at Asi.
The crowd shouted: Why have you come to Red Hood Town? Reveal your intentions!
Asi (innocently pursing her lips): Because Ryder is here!
The crowd: Report! Someone is abusing their dog!
