Chapter 27: After Class, Come Into My Arms (25)
Jiang Xiaorui was glared at by the young girl, and her anger surged uncontrollably. She had only planned to come and teach He Rose a lesson today, but who could have predicted that He Rose would bring along a helper? The girl looked delicate and timid, yet she turned out to be formidable. Even Lu Yu was standing up for her.
Fine, if she couldn’t provoke them, she could at least avoid them—except now the young girl wouldn’t even let her leave. Wasn’t she just a cleaning lady? What was wrong with scolding her a bit? Jiang Xiaorui’s face revealed her unwillingness, but A-Si stood stubbornly at the doorway, blocking her path.
“Auntie, I’m sorry. I was the one who spilled the water. It was my fault.” He Rose bowed seriously to the cleaning lady. Ever since she’d met A-Si, she knew the girl had a sweet temper, but there were certain principles she simply wouldn’t let anyone break. Like that time outside school, when she’d dumped a whole cup of milk tea on someone’s face. As soon as the cup hit the ground, A-Si picked it up—scolded her for littering, yet was still worried she’d get bullied. Absolutely adorable.
The cleaning lady was clearly stunned. She knew many students looked down on them for cleaning the toilets. Usually, she tried to avoid crossing paths with students, but she never imagined one would defend her. Tears welled in her eyes. She turned to A-Si. “Thank you, little one. You all should hurry to class—there’s no need to apologize. It’s nothing, I’ll stay here and clean up.”
A-Si wrinkled her elegant brows.
“No! Everyone stays right here!” A deep, angry male voice rang out. The dean again.
Behind him trailed a boy. It was—Su Jing. He had actually gone to get a teacher. He Rose usually detested teachers, especially the dean of the junior class. Yet Su Jing had gone to fetch him. He Rose shot Su Jing a covert glare. The boy, relieved to see she had not a scratch on her, exhaled and smiled at her.
“You again, Lu Yu!” The boy was tall, and his insolent expression made it impossible to ignore him. The dean glanced at the crowd gathered at the restroom—He Rose, Jiang Xiaorui… Well, it looked like all the troublemakers from the junior class were gathered together. When he caught sight of A-Si, his brows furrowed noticeably.
“You’re the transfer student from Class One?” A-Si nodded. “Yes.” A new transfer student should be a good kid, and she certainly looked obedient. The dean immediately drew his own conclusion: this group must have bullied her into coming here. He fixed his face into a stern expression. “Come over here.”
A-Si nodded obediently and was about to walk over when Lu Yu stepped forward, his brows knitted. “What are you going to do?”
“Lu Yu! Is that how you speak to a teacher?” The dean was clearly infuriated by Lu Yu’s defiant attitude. A-Si sighed lightly and tugged at the hem of Lu Yu’s shirt with her small hand, a clear gesture of comfort, as if saying, Lu Yu, let me go.
The boy pressed his lips together, his tongue pressed against his cheek, and stepped aside. A-Si walked over and stood beside Su Jing, which made a clear distinction between the students—good students and troublemakers.
Lu Yu’s displeasure was obvious as he locked eyes with the dean for three seconds. Then, decisively, he strode over to A-Si’s side, a satisfied smile curling his lips.
“Get back over here! Who told you to move?” the dean barked.
Lu Yu edged even closer to A-Si, and catching the fresh scent on her, replied cheerfully, “No.” He had no intention of moving. Wherever his girl was, that was where he’d be.
