Asi had never known Reid to be such a crybaby.

Ever since he caught sight of her, the tears had not stopped. He held her tightly, the pastries and roasted chicken he had been carrying discarded on the ground. Asi had not been hungry, but seeing Reid standing safely before her, her stomach began to rumble. Consequently, seeing the food scattered across the floor made her heart ache with regret.

However, she could not show it, not even a little, because... Reid was truly so fragile.

"Asi... do, do you not like me anymore? Why? Did I, did I do something wrong?" Reid asked, his voice trembling with caution.

His ink-blue eyes were glistening with moisture; with every word he spoke, tears fell in rhythmic drops.

Asi replied calmly, "Not at all. I could never dislike you, Reid."

"But, but... I saw you frown just now." Reid clutched at her clothes nervously, looking at her with a piteous expression.

"...I only frowned because I felt bad about the food!"

But Asi dared not say that. Since Reid had dropped the food himself, saying so would surely make him blame himself and start crying all over again. She softly changed the subject, "Reid, I missed you so much."

Tears still hanging on his lashes, Reid suddenly burst into a smile.

"Reid missed Asi too!"

Overjoyed, he threw himself into her arms, wrapping his hands tightly around her waist. He collided with her abdomen with such force that the young girl let out a soft gasp.

Her face went pale for a fleeting moment.

Reid grew instantly anxious. "Asi, did I, did I hurt you when I bumped into you?"

"Is it serious?"

"Does it hurt a lot?"

Reid looked as though he wanted to lift her clothes to check for himself. Asi pursed her lips, her dark eyes fixed on him for a moment. Though she knew that letting him see her injuries would only make him sad and self-reproachful, she... she desperately wanted his comfort.

The gunshot wound had been agonizing. It had truly hurt so much. Yet, she had endured the pain long enough to bite Mrs. Griffin several times before managing to escape.

Asi lifted her shirt, revealing her fair stomach. The gruesome scar was stark and obvious. Pouting, she said with a sense of grievance, "Reid, it hurt so much back then. I had to stay with the Wolf Clan for a long time before I could come to find you."

The young girl’s eyes flickered, shimmering with unshed tears.

Reid lowered his head, staring at the scar on her abdomen. His blood seemed to boil, and his expression darkened in an instant.

"It was Mrs. Griffin and the others who did this," he said in a chillingly calm tone.

Asi nodded.

Reid’s lips curled into a strange smile. He placed his hand over her scar, and black flames flickered to life. Though the fire should have been scorching, Asi felt only a gentle warmth. The jagged scar began to fade away slowly.

However, Reid’s gaze remained fixed on the spot, heavy and dark. A faint mark still remained.

"Asi... I am sorry..."

Asi’s eyes widened in surprise. "Reid, you’re amazing! It doesn’t hurt anymore!"

The young girl took his hand and pressed it against the spot where the scar had been; she felt nothing at all. Reid kept his hand pressed against the warm skin, then suddenly sniffled.

Asi looked up to find that he was crying again.

As the tears fell, he muttered, "Asi... from now on, no one will ever be allowed to bully you... bully you... bully you..."

And if they did, he would kill them.

Reid: He was just that fierce!
