Because Lu Yu’s attitude in admitting his mistake was utterly atrocious, the Dean of Students not only made him write a two-thousand-word self-reflection but also assigned him to be responsible for the entire outdoor sanitation area for the second-year students for a whole month.

After inquiring with a stern face, he realized A Si had merely been passing by and hadn’t been troubled. He simply told her to steer clear of those people in the future.

A Si nodded obediently, and at that, the Dean’s glare towards Lu Yu’s group grew even more menacing. In the Dean’s eyes, Lu Yu and his friends were no different from criminals who trafficked children.

By the time A Si returned to the classroom, class was already halfway through.

“A Si, where did you go? Even you skip class sometimes?” He Meigui had just woken up from a nap on her desk and, stretching brazenly in the middle of class, leaned toward A Si with drowsy eyes still shrouded in sleep, fixing her gaze on her desk mate.

A Si slowly took out her books, set a pen in her hand, and answered earnestly, “I didn’t skip class.”

“Then where did you go?”

“I went…” A Si’s voice grew softer. Suddenly, she turned her head and asked, “Meigui, do you know Lu Yu?”

Come to think of it, she hadn’t known Lu Yu’s name before—it was only from the Dean that she’d learned it.

He Meigui looked entirely uninterested and replied offhandedly, “Yeah, I know him. He’s unbeatable in fights, his grades are as abysmal as mine, and he’s pretty much a boss in our school.”

He Meigui’s scores were almost always at the bottom of the year.

After speaking, she finally looked at A Si in confusion, noticing her usually docile desk mate looking lost in thought.

She shuddered. “A Si, don’t tell me you like Lu Yu? Let me warn you, you’d better stay away from him! He’s no good! Someone saw him nearly kill a person with their own eyes!”

“Kill someone?” A Si recalled the gentle look in the boy’s eyes when he’d glanced at her. She was just about to say, “He wouldn’t,” when another scene flashed through her mind—him pinning Lu Zhouyuan to the ground, looking as if he might tear him apart. He did seem rather fierce.

She lowered her eyes. “I was just asking. I don’t like him.”

A Si had always been slow to realize her own feelings; otherwise, she wouldn’t be the only one among her group of friends who was still unmarried.

Even the god of war, with his icy demeanor, had managed to win the heart of a beauty. Yet A Si, who was recognized across the Celestial Palace as the most obedient and adorable immortal, had never attracted even a single peach blossom.

“As long as you don’t like him. I’m telling you, stay away from him. Sure, the guy’s good-looking—if your big sister here wasn’t already taken, I might have been tempted myself!”

He Meigui wanted to say more, but the teacher’s gaze from the podium was scorching and impossible to ignore. She pursed her lips, lowered her head, and promptly went back to sleep.

A Si tilted her head, thinking of Lu Yu’s face.

He was indeed handsome, but…

A Si remembered that fleeting glimpse from the battlefield between gods and demons. That man—he was the most beautiful she had ever seen.

But he was the Demon Lord, ruler of the Demon Realm, and A Si could not muster the slightest fondness for him.

As soon as the bell rang, He Meigui shot up.

“A Si, I’m heading out! Wait for me to come back and play later!”

With that, she dashed out of the classroom.

Watching her go, A Si felt an odd sense of familiarity. It was just like the figure she’d seen in the alley that day, stealing a kiss from Su Jing.

“A Si, come out for a moment. Brother Yu is looking for you.”
