Chapter 97: So She Really Came Looking for Him!
“What?!” Lin Feng was completely stunned by the scene before him.
Someone hiding in the wardrobe?!
Wait—why was Xiao Ran so nervous just because Chu Lingshuang was coming? Did those two have some sort of connection? And what did that have to do with him?!
Too lazy to dwell on it, Lin Feng strode forward, pulled open the wardrobe, and said bluntly, “You could just go back to your own room. What’s the point of hiding in here with me?”
Curled up in the corner of the wardrobe, Xiao Ran clung to a bathrobe, covering her eyes. Her small hands gripped the door, her voice trembling with fear. “Brother, close it quickly, there’s no time!!”
She pushed at the sliding door, putting all her strength into it, but it didn’t budge an inch. In desperation, she grabbed hold of Lin Feng’s trouser leg and pleaded, “Or, brother, you could squeeze in here too. I’ll make some room…”
Was she out of her mind?!
Chu Lingshuang wasn’t necessarily here for him, and besides, he hadn’t done anything wrong—what was there to hide from her for?!
Lin Feng was truly at a loss for words with Xiao Ran. He bent down, intending to pull her out of the wardrobe.
Just as his hand was about to touch the back of Xiao Ran’s neck, a rush of hurried footsteps sounded from outside, punctuated by the sharp clicks of high heels on the floor.
The footsteps grew louder and closer—it seemed they were headed straight for his room.
Lin Feng’s gaze darkened as he stared at Xiao Ran for a few seconds, but in the end, he grabbed the wardrobe door and slammed it shut!
At that very moment, a heavy kick landed on the door!
The door, which Lin Feng had only half closed a moment ago, crashed against the wall with a thunderous bang!
Lin Feng stiffened, his body tensing. Then a man’s voice rang out.
“Miss, Mr. Lin is staying in this room.”
So it really was him they were after!
Lin Feng’s brows knitted tightly, a flicker of impatience flashing in his eyes.
He turned to face the door.
Outside, the bodyguards stood scattered around the entrance. Chu Lingshuang stood squarely in the center, dressed in a stark black coat, her face hidden behind sunglasses and a mask. Though her expression was obscured, she faced Lin Feng directly.
Even with the sunglasses between them, the aura she exuded was forceful and intimidating.
Lin Feng said nothing, casually sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at Chu Lingshuang with a calm composure.
He was curious to see what she was after this time.
The room fell into silence. Chu Lingshuang raised her gloved hand slightly, making a small backward gesture with her fingers.
The bodyguards immediately bowed and exited, closing the door behind them.
With the resounding thud of the door, only Chu Lingshuang and Lin Feng remained visible in the room.
Through her sunglasses, Chu Lingshuang’s eyes narrowed minutely. She stepped forward in her high heels, her movements slow and measured, filling the room with a suffocating sense of pressure.
Lin Feng, almost unconsciously, glanced at the wardrobe out of the corner of his eye.
The next moment, her gloved hand caught his chin, and she spoke in a voice as chilling and relentless as a demon’s summons.
“It’s only been a few days, and you seem to be living rather well!”
Though her words sounded like praise, her tone was laced with barely restrained fury. Even through her mask, Lin Feng could sense the storm about to erupt in her.
But—
“That doesn’t seem to concern you, does it, Miss Chu?” he replied, raising his hand to grasp her slender, fair wrist, visible just beyond the edge of her glove.
He could feel her fingers tightening around his jaw, the friction of her leather gloves pressing into his skin. It didn’t hurt, but the tension was palpable.
A cold laugh escaped from behind Chu Lingshuang’s mask. Suddenly, she forced his face up to hers.
“You’re as sharp-tongued as ever.”
She smiled, but the sight sent chills down Lin Feng’s spine.
If it were any other time, he might have let it go, but now, there was a third person in the room whom Chu Lingshuang didn’t know about!
That person was crouched in the wardrobe, peering through the tiny gap at this very scene…
Lin Feng couldn’t help but breathe heavier. Gripping her arm, he forced her hand down.
“Miss Chu, I believe we made things very clear last time—you leave me be, I’ll leave you be, and we’ll both walk away with nothing owed.”
He fought to keep his voice calm, trying to remind her not to go back on her word.
Chu Lingshuang arched a brow, brushing the red mark left on her wrist where he’d grabbed her, her voice playful. “Is that so?”
“Of course!” Lin Feng straightened up, folding his arms as he looked at her coldly. “Are you planning to break your promise, Miss Chu?”
At his words, Chu Lingshuang did not reply. Instead, she reached up and took off her sunglasses.
Her unshielded gaze bore straight into Lin Feng.
Her judgment was not wrong—after a bit of work from the makeup artist, Lin Feng looked even more striking, especially those deep eyes with a hint of smoldering anger and a wary scrutiny directed at her.
She rarely met such a gaze—it was as if he was matching her, blow for blow.
It made her want to crush him all the more…
A surge of possessiveness rose uncontrollably in Chu Lingshuang’s eyes.
She licked her lips greedily, then suddenly lifted her leg—her high heel landing right next to Lin Feng!
He never expected her to make such a move. Before he could react, she seized him by the collar.
A rush of rose fragrance engulfed him, mixed with her sharp, commanding voice.
“You have some nerve—daring to consort with another woman!”
Lin Feng’s eyes flew wide. He was about to demand what business it was of hers, but in the next instant, Chu Lingshuang yanked hard on his collar, dragging him down!
Her knee pressed against his side…
Then her hands gripped his wrists, bringing them together in front of him, lifting his arms above his head.
The friction of her gloves against his skin was uncomfortable, but that was the least of his concerns—what mattered was that, in the wardrobe just to the side, someone was still hiding.
Was she insane, starting this kind of thing now?!
He knew arguing with this woman was pointless, but under these circumstances, could he really just stay silent?
The only way to make her come to her senses was to tell her there was a third person in the room!
He had no reason to keep Xiao Ran’s secret, did he?
“Miss Chu, I suggest you calm down. There’s not only—mmph!”
He was just about to explain, trying to break free from her grip, but before he could finish, Chu Lingshuang bent down abruptly!
A tidal wave of softness overwhelmed him!
Lin Feng’s words stuck in his throat. He never expected this woman to be so direct, to—
Feeling her hands growing bolder, his breath quickened.
No! He absolutely couldn’t let Chu Lingshuang get away with this—certainly not with a third person present!
Lin Feng’s heart sank. He summoned his strength and broke free of her hold almost effortlessly.
In one swift move, he turned and pinned her at his side, gripping her wrists, about to speak—only to be confronted by her dazed, yet unsatisfied gaze…
