Chapter 83: One More Word and I’ll Send You to Indonesia!
“Miss Chu, is it possible that I’ve already remembered you?” Lin Feng retorted, the corners of his mouth twitching.
Chu Lingshuang’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Really?”
“Of course!” Lin Feng snapped, cursing under his breath. Anyone who had experienced the madness of these past few days would hardly forget it.
This Miss Chu was the first truly unhinged person he’d ever encountered. He had no desire to endure this kind of ordeal a second time.
Chu Lingshuang stared intently at Lin Feng as he dressed, her gaze growing deeper and more inscrutable. After a long silence, she suddenly spoke. “No, that’s not it.”
“What’s not it?” Lin Feng had already changed, feeling the unpleasant dampness of his clothes and eager to find something fresh to wear. But with Chu Lingshuang right in front of him, spouting cryptic words, he was at a loss.
“This isn’t the feeling I want,” she murmured, her eyes narrowing.
For some reason, seeing Lin Feng’s indifference made a wave of discomfort surge in her chest. Each time it swelled within her, her heart would twist in pain.
She couldn’t explain this feeling. She wanted to be the only one in his eyes, wanted him to lose himself for her.
Yet here he was, so unconcerned—it made her furious.
Furious and anxious.
She had everything, yet she alone could not command Lin Feng’s attention.
This sense of losing control nearly tore her apart.
Staring at the silent Chu Lingshuang, Lin Feng couldn’t be bothered to figure her out. Impatient to change, he grabbed his waterlogged phone and said, “If there’s nothing else, Miss Chu, I’ll be going now.”
He paused, then added, “I hope you’ll keep your word.”
Chu Lingshuang remained standing, saying nothing more.
She watched calmly as Lin Feng turned and left.
When the bathroom door slammed shut with a bang, the sound jolted her awake.
Her hand trembled as she pressed it to her chest, feeling her heart race.
Never before had she felt such an intense urge to possess someone.
She bit down hard on her lip, her eyes dark and stormy. She knew she needed to calm herself.
Just as she was about to turn on the shower for a cold baptism, her phone vibrated.
Glancing at the caller ID, her expression darkened and she answered.
“Big sis, I heard Mom set you up on a blind date?!” came a curious and surprised female voice.
Chu Lingshuang didn’t reply. The woman on the other end, clearly excited, continued in a clear, ringing tone.
“So, did you go? What’s the guy like? Sis, how could you not invite me to such a fun event? Where are you now? I’ve already landed at the capital airport, I’ll come find you right away!”
“Miss Ranran, you still have to appear at the press conference later. I’m afraid—”
“Shut up! Postpone the press conference—can’t you see something urgent just came up?!”
As soon as her excited voice faded, another anxious female voice came through, followed by the sounds of a heated argument.
Chu Lingshuang’s head throbbed. She rubbed her forehead in annoyance. “Chu Yunran, do as Qin Xue says. If you talk any more, I’ll ship you off to Indonesia!”
“No, Sis, please tell me! I’m your only real sister—how could you be so heartless—”
Unwilling to listen to Chu Yunran’s shrill wailing, Chu Lingshuang hung up without hesitation.
With her nerves already frayed by Chu Yunran’s noise, the cold wind seeping in from the bathroom’s cracked window left her face pale.
She wrapped herself in a dry robe and stepped out, only to find Liu Tianhan and her team waiting outside.
“Miss, the banquet ended at midnight and everyone else has left. The Gu family’s security outside has been dealt with, but Old Master Gu is still downstairs,” Liu Tianhan reported gravely, head bowed.
She could smell the metallic tang of blood in the air—there was no other reason for her tension.
Chu Lingshuang’s face was grim as she spoke coldly, “Clear them out. Tell Gu Zhang I’ll be waiting for him at the Ziguang Residence.”
Gu Zhang was Old Master Gu’s name. Chu Lingshuang had always been respectful to her elders, but now, to call him by name without honorifics made it clear—she was truly furious.
Liu Tianhan dared not delay, nodding quickly. “Yes, Miss. I’ll handle it at once.”
She led her people toward the inner hall.
...
“My sister is so heartless! She actually threatened to send me to Indonesia! Outrageous!”
In the VIP lounge of the capital’s airport, Chu Yunran nearly threw her phone in a fit of pique after being hung up on.
Qin Xue stood beside her, looking helpless. “Miss Ranran, we need to hurry. The press conference starts in half an hour.”
“Press conference, press conference—that’s all you ever talk about!” Chu Yunran snapped, tossing a nearby pillow at her.
It landed squarely on Qin Xue, who, unperturbed, calmly picked it up and put it back on the sofa.
Chu Yunran grabbed another and threw it. Qin Xue picked it up again.
After a few rounds, Chu Yunran’s anger noticeably faded.
She calmed down, glanced at her phone, then at Qin Xue, and suddenly asked, “Xuexue, a few days ago you mentioned my sister brought a man home—was that for real?”
Qin Xue paused, frowning. “It was something Xue Yan mentioned in passing during a chat. She only said half, then stopped, as if Miss Lingshuang didn’t want anyone to know.”
“Oh?” Chu Yunran drew out her response, raising her brows with a mischievous smile. “How interesting!”
“What’s interesting?” Qin Xue was confused.
Clearly used to explaining, Chu Yunran replied with a grin, “My sister brings a man home, then gets set up on a blind date by Mom. Isn’t that fascinating?”
Qin Xue’s lips twitched, unsure how to respond.
But Chu Yunran seemed to have made up her mind. She squinted playfully, a sly smile crossing her face.
Her eyes sparkled as she murmured, “Looks like Mom doesn’t know Sis already brought a man home.”
She glanced at Qin Xue, putting on an exaggeratedly pitiful look. “Sister Xue, could you help me find out who that man is?”
As a popular idol group member, Chu Yunran’s playful charm had won her a legion of fans. Unlike Chu Lingshuang’s icy pride, she was mischievous and adorable, every gesture brimming with lively spirit.
Qin Xue could never withstand Chu Yunran’s wheedling. But since this involved Chu Lingshuang, she didn’t dare promise recklessly. “Miss Ranran, this concerns Miss Lingshuang. I’m afraid...”
“Waaah!” Chu Yunran’s eyes instantly reddened as she pouted and whimpered, “How can a guy picked up off the street be reliable? I’m just worried Sis might get duped...”
“Sister Xue, you’re the best—please help me, just this once!”
