Chapter 5: That Demon Has Returned
“Are you aware that imprisoning a living person here is against the law?” Lin Feng was furious, stopping in his tracks to shout back.
Mrs. Wang, however, appeared calm and collected. “Sir, how can this be called imprisonment? There’s good food and drink here. If you need anything, just tell me, and I’ll prepare it for you.”
Then she changed her tone, smiling as she approached Lin Feng. “Sir, I’ve watched Miss Chu grow up since she was a child. She’s never brought a man home before. You’re the first—so many people would envy your good fortune!”
Mrs. Wang sized Lin Feng up, her satisfaction growing. Her young lady certainly had good taste; a man with a hearty appetite was a blessing. That lavish spread had been mostly devoured, and now, standing before her, he looked full of vigor—fair-skinned, clean-cut, and well-built. What a fine match for her Miss Chu!
Mrs. Wang was so pleased that her wide smile never once faded.
Lin Feng had no idea what she was thinking; he felt like he would explode with anger.
“Envy?” Lin Feng’s words were nearly spat out between clenched teeth.
“Of course!” Mrs. Wang replied cheerfully. “Sir, Miss Chu will probably be home late tonight. You should go upstairs and rest first.”
With that, she began clearing the dining table, apparently unconcerned. Throughout, Lin Feng hadn’t seen another soul in the house.
Glancing at the dark sky outside, Lin Feng realized he had no choice but to go upstairs for now. Without Chu Lingshuang’s permission, it would be difficult to leave.
Though he had no wish to see that crazy woman again, he had little choice at this point. Clenching his fists, he finally mounted the stairs.
He had already taken a good look at the villa’s layout on his way up. The staircase led only to the second floor, and there was an elevator at the turn, but without a card, it was unusable. No wonder this was Lakeview Manor; there were likely more floors above.
The second floor’s layout mirrored the first, except that it held only a single bedroom—the very room where he’d awoken.
After the meal, he was sweating. He opened the wardrobe and found a spare set of pajamas. Since he was already here, a shower wasn’t too much to ask.
He used the bathroom, taking a long, refreshing shower, then changed into the gray-and-white velvet pajamas. As he stepped out, he heard the sound of a car horn from downstairs.
Looking out the second-floor living room’s floor-to-ceiling window, he saw a beautiful woman in a white blouse and black pencil skirt step out of the car and hurry to the back door.
Then, a pair of long, snow-white legs, sheathed in black leather high heels with red soles, emerged from the car.
It was Chu Lingshuang.
She was breathtakingly beautiful.
Lin Feng couldn’t help but marvel. The secretary’s attire already made her attractive, but when Chu Lingshuang appeared, she eclipsed the other woman entirely, making her seem like nothing more than a background character.
If only she weren’t so domineering, he thought.
He watched as Chu Lingshuang spoke with the woman, who nodded, then got into the driver’s seat and drove away. Chu Lingshuang walked slowly to the door and disappeared inside.
She would be upstairs any moment.
Lin Feng heard the distinct click of high heels on the stairs, each step growing louder, bringing her closer.
He thought it necessary to speak plainly to her. They were both human—surely, if he was sincere enough, Chu Lingshuang wouldn’t make things too difficult.
Soon, the door to the second-floor living room opened, and Chu Lingshuang entered.
She wore yet another outfit he hadn’t seen before: a white dress with cutouts at the waist, a high slit in the skirt, her thick hair piled elegantly atop her head, adorned with dazzling diamond earrings. Crimson lips and a cold, alluring aura completed her look.
Her presence was overwhelming; just standing there, it seemed as though the very air around her had solidified.
Glancing at Lin Feng on the sofa, she looked him up and down, apparently satisfied. She sniffed the air, her eyes narrowing suddenly.
“Took a shower?” she asked.
How is that any of your business?! Lin Feng wanted to retort, but for now, he needed to negotiate with her if he hoped to leave.
He took a deep breath, steadying himself. “What will it take for you to let me go?”
Chu Lingshuang tossed her handbag onto the coat rack by the door, giving him a contemptuous glance. “Yesterday’s lesson wasn’t memorable enough, was it?”
Lin Feng shuddered.
What a lunatic—she still wasn’t finished with him!
Chu Lingshuang sauntered over with a playful air, stopping right before him and bending down abruptly.
A sudden rush of rose fragrance enveloped him, her flawless face magnified before his eyes, making his breath hitch.
Her skin was flawless, her phoenix eyes gleaming with a chilling light. Especially those fiery red lips—following the line of her neck down, he could even glimpse her delicate collarbone...
Lin Feng’s heart skipped a beat.
Her voice, cold and domineering, rang out: “Without my permission, don't even think of leaving!”
Her words jolted him back to reality.
He was a man! How could he endure being threatened by a woman over and over?
He couldn’t hold back any longer.
He was determined to show her what he was made of.
In a flash, he tried to restrain her, but instantly realized—somehow, she had chained his wrists with iron shackles!
He’d fallen for her beauty trap.
Only now did he notice the two slender, sturdy chains hidden in the sofa’s crevice.
Damn! How many tricks did this woman have up her sleeve?
“Let me go! You’re insane!” he shouted.
Chu Lingshuang’s gaze darkened. She lifted his chin with a mocking air, as if inspecting an entertaining plaything.
“Is it my fault for not taking proper care of you?” Her fingertip brushed his lower lip, then abruptly gripped his jaw, her tone turning sharp. “What makes you so desperate to leave?”
“It’s got nothing to do with any of that! I told you I’m not interested in you, and I’d never speak about what happened between us!” Lin Feng shouted back, furious.
But he didn’t realize that the more he resisted, the more intrigued Chu Lingshuang became.
She enjoyed training dogs.
Especially the thrill of taming a wild hound into a docile pup.
She pulled a whip from the coffee table drawer, sneering coldly. “It doesn’t matter. I don’t mind beating you into obedience.”
Lin Feng saw her pale fingers caressing the whip, her gaze fierce and unyielding.
Anywhere else, he wouldn’t have been afraid.
But this woman—she even had a gun. He hadn’t seen it for himself, but her hands were probably already stained with blood.
He suddenly realized how foolish he’d been.
To think he could negotiate with a madwoman like this.
He gave up.
He sprawled out on the sofa in defeat.
“What do you want from me?” he asked.
Seeing his sudden compliance, Chu Lingshuang raised an eyebrow. “It’s very simple.”
With absolute arrogance, she declared, “From today onward, I want you to be my golden canary—until I tire of you.”
