Chapter 24: Did I Allow You to Touch Another Woman?
“What do I know?” Lin Feng was stunned. His gaze flickered to the strand of wire, and he slowly edged backward, still arguing, “I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I just took a shower. Have you lost your mind?”
As he retreated a couple of steps, Chu Lingshuang advanced, pressing him with every stride.
“Did I ever permit you to touch another woman?”
The sudden, baseless accusation made Lin Feng lose his composure instantly. “Who did I touch? I just had a drink...”
He hadn’t finished his sentence when the image of him holding Xia Qingqing as they entered the hotel flashed through his mind.
Was that really counted?!
But—
He changed his tone, “Why does it matter to you who I touch?”
“Very good.”
She sneered, pulling a steel wool scrubber from the drawer beneath the sink.
“It seems you still haven’t figured out your place!”
She delivered her icy words, then yanked him forcefully, making Lin Feng turn his back to her.
He realized what she intended, but the next second—
A sharp, tearing pain seared through his palm as she scrubbed it again and again with the steel wool!
He spun around abruptly, seized the strand of wire, and endured the excruciating agony in his hand. He shouted, “What’s wrong with you! Who I hold has nothing to do with you!”
Chu Lingshuang hadn’t expected his resistance to be so fierce this time.
No one had ever dared push her before!
Her pride visibly suffered.
Lin Feng endured the needle-like pain covering his hand, his fingers pinching the wire. He finally found the keyhole, twisted it a few times, and heard a faint click as the lock opened!
He immediately raised his hand and restrained Chu Lingshuang’s shoulder.
A flicker of surprise crossed her icy face; she had not expected Lin Feng to break free!
“You lunatic!”
Lin Feng roared, but as he counterattacked, a sudden sharp pain shot through his lower body.
He instinctively let go and clutched the spot, but the next instant, a forceful blow struck the back of his head.
His vision went black!
In the last moment before losing consciousness, he saw Chu Lingshuang’s proud face tinged with blush, her lips bitten, and her eyes filled with a grievance he had never seen before...
When Lin Feng’s awareness returned, it was the stinging pain in his palm that woke him.
The room’s yellowed warm light was still on, the thick curtains by the window drawn tight, obscuring any hint of day or night.
He felt utterly exhausted.
He heard the door open.
Chu Lingshuang had changed into a clean, snowy silk nightgown and was walking toward him.
His hand and neck hurt so badly they’d gone numb. When he saw the medical kit in her hand, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Chu Lingshuang was still as aloof and unattainable as ever, her red lips pressed tightly together. She placed the medical kit on the bedside table, opened it, and took out an ointment with practiced motions.
Lin Feng thought she was going to retaliate for how he’d hurt her earlier and instinctively struggled to rise, but Chu Lingshuang pressed his shoulder down.
“Don’t move. I’m going to treat your wounds.”
She rarely offered an explanation.
Seeing that it was indeed ointment for external injuries, Lin Feng relaxed inwardly.
In silence, Chu Lingshuang twisted open the ointment. With a hint of roughness, she squeezed out all of it onto his hand.
“Ah! It hurts!”
Lin Feng grimaced in pain...
“You’re aware of that, at least?”
Chu Lingshuang didn’t ease her touch. She crudely spread the ointment with a cotton swab. “If it hurts, that’s good. Let this be a lesson—aside from me, you’re not allowed to touch anyone else!”
Lin Feng almost rolled off the bed from the pain, but fortunately it was only the first few moments.
He didn’t know what medicine it was, but its effect worked quickly. In just a short while, he felt a cool relief.
He was too tired, unwilling to argue further, and said, “That’s not up to you...”
Used to his retorts, Chu Lingshuang replied coldly, “You can try it if you dare.”
