Chapter 67: It Seems I’ve Been Too Good to You!
He cursed under his breath, fumbling for his phone in his pocket, only to discover it had been taken without his notice. Gritting his teeth, he tried to unlock the cuffs around his wrists. The sight of his hand made Lin Feng’s heart jolt in terror! Electronic shackles forged from pure titanium alloy... Without a doubt, these were specially designed by Chu Lingshuang for him; they couldn’t be opened without the password.
In just a few days, she had already upgraded her equipment! But Lin Feng knew he couldn’t simply wait for doom to claim him. If Chu Lingshuang refused to let him out, wouldn’t he have to eat, drink, and relieve himself all inside this cage? His eyes swept over the two basins by the bed, and his lips twitched in disgust! How was this different from raising a pet?
He was a living, breathing human being—how could he willingly lie here as her exclusive pet! Rising, he began to inspect the lock on the cage. As expected, it was electronic, and he had no tools, only a thin wire he’d taken before boarding the car...
Lin Feng drew a deep breath, knowing he must not panic now. He carefully considered Chu Lingshuang’s intentions; she simply wanted to keep him here. But hadn’t she tried this before? After he negotiated, she agreed to let him out. If it happened once, it could happen again!
With this thought, his mood gradually calmed. He lay at the head of the bed, arms folded, eyes fixed on the door, waiting for Chu Lingshuang to arrive.
Minute by minute, time ticked by. A few moments later, he heard the sound of the lock sliding. The door opened, and Chu Lingshuang entered, clad in a black leather jacket, slender shoes clicking on the floor, a belt cinched at her waist, her figure alluring, lips pressed into a firm line, walking gracefully toward him.
Lin Feng stayed his hand, watching her silently. He mustn’t speak first; if Chu Lingshuang saw him flustered, she’d only grow more smug.
Seeing Lin Feng’s calm expression, Chu Lingshuang paused, her lips curling slightly. She pulled over an office chair, turning it to face him, then sat down and crossed her legs.
Arms folded, her gaze grew icy as she suddenly spoke, “Seafood, beef and lamb, chicken, duck, fish, and a refrigerator...”
She raised her right hand, counting off on her fingers, her tone hard to read, carefully tallying the items.
Lin Feng pressed his lips together, silent.
As she counted, Chu Lingshuang’s eyes grew cold, a mocking amusement in her voice, “In such a short time, you spent a hundred thousand yuan. Quite impressive.”
Lin Feng sneered, “Is a hundred thousand really anything to Miss Chu?” If he had to return, he might as well pay for it. Surely Miss Chu’s daily tea expenses exceeded that; how could she consider this a lot?
“Of course it’s nothing,” Chu Lingshuang narrowed her eyes, fixing Lin Feng with a deadly stare, struggling to contain her anger. “If you spent it on yourself, I wouldn’t care. But you sent all those things to the Xia family!”
That was the crux of the issue! Clearly, Chu Lingshuang didn’t know Xia Qingqing was his real sister.
It made sense—Chu Lingshuang had said she’d withdraw surveillance from his side, so unless she actively asked her people to investigate, they wouldn’t report such details.
Lin Feng felt relieved.
But in the next instant, Chu Lingshuang suddenly stood, her heels striking the floor.
Bang, bang, bang—
The sound hammered straight into Lin Feng’s heart! He watched her stride closer, stopping beside the cage.
His heart sank, and he shrank back. Fortunately, the cage was spacious; unless she entered, she couldn’t reach him.
He had no intention of grabbing her—Chu Lingshuang likely knew some martial arts, and if he failed, the consequences would only worsen.
Chu Lingshuang glared at Lin Feng, fury blazing in her eyes. She bit down hard, her words emerging one at a time: “You’ve got guts! How dare you use my money to buy things for another woman!”
Damn!
Lin Feng curled his lip contemptuously. She couldn’t touch him, so his tone grew brazen, “If Miss Chu wants me back, she should offer some perks, shouldn’t she? Besides, who I buy things for is none of your business.”
The more he spoke, the angrier Chu Lingshuang became!
Her pet spending her money was expected. But her pet spending it on another woman, and in front of her, with sarcasm—how could she not be furious?
“So I’ve been too kind to you. You’ve forgotten your place!” Chu Lingshuang gritted her teeth, her cold voice falling as she stared down at Lin Feng through the iron bars.
Lin Feng showed no fear, replying indifferently, “If you’ve got the guts, just kill me. I’d rather die than rot in here!”
He turned his gaze away, staring at the other side.
Whenever she tried to use force, he adopted this attitude, making it impossible for her to control him. In short, he never let her matter to him.
Chu Lingshuang was livid. She didn’t even know why; seeing his indifferent face, a fire burned within her.
She yearned to seize his jaw, force him to look at her, to make his eyes contain only her—his gaze desperate and pained from not having her...
The image flashed through her mind, making her heart race.
That look—he’d die without her, full of longing and possessiveness, begging over and over, “Don’t leave…”
She bit her lower lip hard, the pain bringing her back to herself, replaced by an even stronger urge to control.
Chu Lingshuang took a deep breath, knowing she couldn’t act rashly now.
A cornered dog will leap a wall—let alone a man who regards life and death lightly!
She clenched her fist and narrowed her eyes, coldly questioning, “Are you sure this is what you want?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Lin Feng replied lightly, glancing at the beautiful scenery outside the window, his lips curving faintly. “The first half of my life was exciting enough.”
In the corner of his eye, there was no nostalgia for the world.
As he spoke, his whole being seemed ethereal, like time slipping away—so clear, yet impossible to grasp.
Chu Lingshuang’s heart tightened inexplicably!
Damn it! How could she feel pity for him? She quickly folded her arms, unconsciously pressing her rapidly beating heart.
Only now did she realize she’d been emotionally swayed by him without even noticing.
Luckily, she caught herself in time; otherwise, she’d have let him lead her by the nose.
Once calm, Chu Lingshuang’s eyes darkened. She gave Lin Feng, now resigned, a deep look and headed straight out of the room.
As the door opened, Lin Feng heard her cold command echo through the hallway.
“Starve him for a week. Let’s see if his mouth is still so stubborn then!”
