"It seems you don't know me yet, but that's alright. I'll explain everything to you when the time comes. Are you at Jinling University now?"
"Yes, I'm here."
"Alright, then wait for me. I'll come pick you up around four or five this afternoon. Tonight, I'll take you to see the place we've arranged for you to stay. Is it okay if I call this number later?"
"I'm afraid not. This isn't my phone. She should have already gone back by then."

Qin Xuan knew that Dongfang Qingwan would return after lunch.
"Ha, that's no problem. Just wait for me at the main gate then. I'll make a grand entrance so you'll recognize me at a glance."

Qin Xuan found this a bit strange.
A grand entrance? Recognize at a glance?
But the other person had already hung up, likely busy with something. Qin Xuan had no intention of calling back.
"Alright, let's go. By the way, where are you staying before the official start of the semester?"
Qin Xuan handed the petite phone back to Dongfang Qingwan and asked casually.
"Qixia Villa."
Dongfang Qingwan's brows furrowed slightly as she answered softly.
"Looks like I'll be living alone for the next couple of days," Qin Xuan sighed.

Dongfang Qingwan said nothing more, continuing along the campus path. Qin Xuan smiled faintly and quietly followed.

As they reached a lakeside trail, a group of brash youths suddenly appeared ahead. Leading them was a young man with flamboyant red hair, dressed in branded suit and trousers—a style both outlandish and mismatched.
"Brother Wei, that's the girl up ahead. I've been following her for a while. What do you think?"
One of his lackeys spoke obsequiously.
"Not bad, tsk tsk, she's a real beauty. But who's that guy next to her?"
The red-haired youth couldn't tear his eyes away from Dongfang Qingwan, nearly drooling. But spotting Qin Xuan beside her, his expression soured.
"No worries, boss. We'll get rid of that guy for you."
The lackey quickly responded, and the four of them marched straight toward Qin Xuan, blocking his path.
"Lovely miss, my name is Yang Weiyang. May I have the honor of knowing yours?"
With Qin Xuan blocked, the red-haired youth strutted over to Dongfang Qingwan, bowing as if he were a gentleman. Unfortunately, his garish hair and lecherous eyes betrayed his true intentions.

Dongfang Qingwan frowned slightly and turned to glance at Qin Xuan.
She just wanted to see how Qin Xuan would handle such a situation, but Yang Weiyang completely misread her look, thinking she was worried about the long-robed young man beside her. With a wave of his hand, he barked,
"Throw him in the lake!"

At his command, the four thugs cracked their knuckles, eager for a fight.
Qin Xuan found the situation amusing. As the saying goes, 'A beautiful face brings trouble'—how true it is. Even taking a simple walk with Dongfang Qingwan invited disaster.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
Qin Xuan glanced at the lake beside the path.
"Cut the nonsense, kid. Beg for mercy now and maybe we'll let you off. Otherwise, we'll make you look a fool in front of the lady."
One of the lackeys threatened menacingly.
"If you insist, then go ahead—but you'll have to bear the consequences yourselves."
Qin Xuan shook his head helplessly.

At those words, the four thugs grew enraged and lunged at him. Qin Xuan, seeing no alternative, could only defend himself. With his skills, handling these four was child's play.
With a few swift moves, all four were subdued.
Splash!
Splash!
Splash!
Splash!
Four heavy bodies hit the water in succession, leaving Yang Weiyang gaping in shock.

Dongfang Qingwan smiled faintly. It seemed the bodyguard her grandfather had arranged for her had some real ability—at least, he could handle ordinary trouble.
Still, wasn't throwing them into the lake a bit much?
Noticing her slight disapproval, Qin Xuan smiled and explained, "If I wasn't capable, I'd be the one in the lake right now. With people like this, you have to give them a taste of their own medicine."
Dongfang Qingwan gently brushed her hair aside, not agreeing nor disagreeing.

"Who the hell are you?"
Yang Weiyang, visibly shaken, strode up to Qin Xuan and glared.
"Bodyguard,"
Qin Xuan replied, pointing to Dongfang Qingwan.
"Then how do you plan to settle this?" Yang Weiyang glanced at the four struggling in the water, his tone threatening.
"Swimming's quite refreshing in this weather."
Qin Xuan shrugged.
"Don't mess with me. Do you know who my father is? Say the word, and I'll have someone throw you in jail."
Yang Weiyang blustered.
"I really don't know who your father is. If you have the guts, call him here—I’d like to see what kind of man raised a son like you."
Qin Xuan's face turned cold.

He detested nothing more than bullies relying on power. Since Yang Weiyang played that card, he saw no reason to show courtesy.
His response was brazen enough to stun Yang Weiyang. To be honest, he didn't dare call his father over for something like this. Still, he was used to swaggering around on his father's reputation and couldn't swallow Qin Xuan's arrogance.
"Give me your name, if you have the nerve! I'll settle this with you later!"
"Qin Xuan. Freshman, School of Business. Try whatever you like."
Qin Xuan stated his name without hesitation. After all, they were at the same university—trouble was unavoidable, so it was better to be direct.

His candor caught Yang Weiyang off guard. Wasn't he supposed to be a bodyguard? Since when did freshmen work as bodyguards?
"And what about her?"
Yang Weiyang pointed at Dongfang Qingwan, uncertain.
"That's none of your business, unless you want trouble with her too?"
Qin Xuan retorted, instantly silencing Yang Weiyang.
"Hmph, you think you’re tough. Just wait, I'll find someone to deal with you."

Seeing the situation, Yang Weiyang realized he was no match and muttered as he tried to leave.
"Hey, did I say you could go?" Qin Xuan said, and in a flash, appeared in front of Yang Weiyang.
"What do you want?"
Yang Weiyang faltered, stepping back.
"As the ringleader, you should share your followers’ fate."
Qin Xuan smiled, and before Yang Weiyang could react, grabbed his arm and tossed him outward.
Splash!
Another heavy splash, and a tuft of red hair floated to the lake’s surface.
"People like that will never learn without a bit of hardship."
Qin Xuan glanced at Dongfang Qingwan with a smile.

She simply rolled her eyes at him and shook her head, about to leave.
Just then, a cry for help rose from the lake.
"Help! Help! Ugh..."
It was Yang Weiyang’s voice. Qin Xuan was surprised; apparently, the guy couldn't swim—a real headache. He’d only meant to teach him a lesson, not cause real trouble.

He was about to go check when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a striking figure running toward them from the distance. He paused in surprise.
Her?
