Chapter 107: Greetings, Little White
“Oh my, Miss Su, what a surprise to see you here.” The young security guard quickly forced a smile as Su Muqing approached, a flicker of admiration lighting his eyes.
In her white blouse and black stockings, the graceful and beautiful Su Muqing instantly became the center of attention in the entire television station lobby.
“Qin Xuan, what’s going on?” Su Muqing ignored the young guard and looked toward Qin Xuan.
“Nothing much. They’re trying to kick me out, haha,” Qin Xuan replied with a casual smile.
“Is that so?” Su Muqing cast a cool glance at the young guard.
“Uh, Miss Su, this is Mr. Jiang’s order. We’re just following instructions; it’s not our fault...” The young guard, realizing that Qin Xuan and Su Muqing knew each other, suddenly lost his bravado.
“That’s enough, go back to work,” Su Muqing waved her hand dismissively, refusing to make a fuss.
Feeling as if he’d been granted a pardon, the young guard hurried away. But an older guard frowned and said, “Miss Su, this isn’t according to regulations. What’s that man carrying on his back? If it’s something dangerous and something happens, we security guards won’t be able to take responsibility.”
Su Muqing frowned slightly.
“Then put it down here for now,” Qin Xuan said with a smile, removing the rosewood sword case from his back and tossing it into the older guard’s arms to avoid putting Su Muqing in an awkward position.
“Alright.” The older guard reached out and took the sword case, but it suddenly felt incredibly heavy in his hands, nearly causing him to stumble. He was startled—what was inside this wooden box that made it so heavy?
“Manageable?” Qin Xuan asked, noticing the guard’s struggle.
“Yes, yes. Miss Su, you both go on ahead,” the older guard replied dutifully, gritting his teeth as he hoisted the sword case and carried it toward the security room by the entrance.
“Qin Xuan, your sword is really that heavy? Doesn’t carrying it every day tire you out?” Su Muqing smiled softly.
“Not really, hehe,” Qin Xuan scratched his head and glanced at Ye Xiaoyu, noticing that the white skirt she wore was already cleaned up. Although some water stains remained, it was much better than the muddy mess before.
The three of them rode the elevator up, stopping briefly on the sixth floor—Ye Xiaoyu’s interview location.
“Thank you, Sister Su,” Ye Xiaoyu said as she stepped out of the elevator, turning back to wave gratefully, her smile as pure and radiant as a white rose blooming in early June.
“Go for it; aim to get hired,” Su Muqing encouraged with a smile and a wave.
The elevator doors closed and continued upward.
Su Mubo’s office was on the top floor, and soon only Qin Xuan and Su Muqing remained in the elevator. The gentle fragrance drifting over made Qin Xuan’s heart race uncontrollably, and he quickly admonished himself to stay calm.
Ding!
The elevator reached the top floor.
“Uh?” The doors opened, and the two paused in surprise.
A handsome young man in a suit was about to step in. His sharp eyebrows and bright eyes bore a striking resemblance to Su Muqing, their features sharing a certain kinship.
Qin Xuan sensed from him an aura similar to Zhao Long’s. Could this be Su Mubo?
“Oh, Xiaoqing? You’re here so soon? I was just going to go downstairs to find Xiao Jiang,” the handsome young man said with a laugh as he looked at the two of them. “Since you’re here, I’ll entertain you first. Xiaoqing, aren’t you going to introduce me?”
“Alright. Qin Xuan, this is my brother, Xiaobai,” Su Muqing smiled gently and introduced them.
“Oh, hello, Xiaobai,” Qin Xuan naturally responded, but as soon as the words left his mouth, he felt something was off. Su Muqing’s use of “Xiaobai” was intimate—he shouldn’t be using it so casually.
“Pfft!” Su Muqing covered her mouth, laughing.
“...” Su Mubo was speechless.
He’d encountered this many times before—Su Muqing would introduce someone, and then the other party would call him “Xiaobai” right away, leading to awkwardness all around.
“Brother, this is Qin Xuan,” Su Muqing continued as she stepped out of the elevator.
“Heh, I’ve heard a lot about you. Xiaoqing is just teasing you, don’t take it seriously. Of course, if you want to call me Xiaobai, I wouldn’t mind,” Su Mubo said with a smile.
“...” The three laughed as they walked toward the office. Su Mubo had a strong, approachable charm, and before long he and Qin Xuan were on familiar terms.
Once seated, Su Muqing brewed two cups of tea, placing one before Qin Xuan and keeping one for herself.
“Thank you,” Qin Xuan said, a little embarrassed.
“You’re welcome,” Su Muqing smiled and sat beside him.
“Xiaoqing, why don’t I get any?” Su Mubo complained, feeling unfairly treated.
“If you want some, brew it yourself,” Su Muqing shot him a glare.
“Ahem, alright,” Su Mubo chuckled bitterly but was used to her attitude and didn’t mind.
He turned his gaze to Qin Xuan, thought for a moment, and then asked bluntly, “I heard from Xiaoqing that you plan to cooperate with the Su family against the Li family?”
“Yes,” Qin Xuan nodded.
“Brother, I’m telling you, that Li Shihao is a real scoundrel.” Hearing this, Su Muqing became animated. Within minutes, she recounted everything the spirit of Yang Ling had told her the previous night.
“Is it really like that?” Su Mubo frowned.
“It is. Whether we cooperate depends on your decision,” Qin Xuan said.
“No rush to decide. First, I have to thank you for saving Xiaoqing twice. Without you, she’d probably be dead and gone by now,” Su Mubo smiled.
Zhou Daqiang once, Lei Jinde once—without Qin Xuan’s intervention during those crises, the outcome would have been unimaginable.
“Hehe, I just hope she no longer misunderstands me,” Qin Xuan said.
At that, Su Muqing blushed.
“Xiaoqing, that’s your fault. How could you bite the hand that feeds you...” Su Mubo shook his head, lecturing.
“Go away, you’re the dog,” Su Muqing retorted.
“Hehe, Xiaoqing, come here,” Su Mubo waved to her, unfazed.
“What is it?” Su Muqing asked, approaching.
“Xiaoqing, aren’t you going to admit you lost the bet?” Su Mubo whispered, referring to the two-year wager about Li Shihao.
“You’re tough,” Su Muqing sighed.
“You don’t understand the world of men. I see Li Shihao much more clearly than you do,” Su Mubo said proudly. “Qin Xuan here is pretty impressive—definitely stronger than Li Shihao.”
As the number one media figure in Jinling, Su Mubo was well-informed about Qin Xuan, even knowing more details than some involved parties about incidents like the beating of the Solar Kingdom’s overseas student. He had long admired him.
“Brother!” Su Muqing rolled her eyes.
“He’s serious. You’re already twenty-three. Start dating for two years, then get engaged, married, and honeymooned. If you don’t find a boyfriend soon, by the time you have kids, you’ll be almost thirty...”
“Brother!” Su Muqing couldn’t take it and glared at him. “What about you? You don’t have a girlfriend either and you’re criticizing me?”
“A man is different from a woman,” Su Mubo reasoned with confidence.
They thought they were speaking quietly enough for Qin Xuan not to hear, but in fact, he had caught every word and immediately thought, “Is this Su Mubo really reliable? Can this guy actually team up with us against the Li family...”
