Ye Group.

Ye Tan had just finished a meeting with Shen Lingyun, president of the Shen Group, when he suddenly saw Shen clutching his chest, his face contorted in agony.

The room erupted in panic.

Ye Tan, standing closest, hurriedly steadied him and barked out orders. "Quick! Get a doctor! Call an ambulance! Everyone else, get out to keep the air flowing!"

"Old Shen, how are you?"

Shen Lingyun tried to speak, but he couldn't force his mouth open. It felt as if his throat were being crushed, and his heart was gripped by a stabbing, excruciating pain.

"Don't talk. I have a doctor here; they'll be here any second!"

The Ye Group maintained an in-house medical department staffed by qualified professionals. Fortunately, several doctors happened to be on-site, capable of handling emergency triage.

Suddenly, remembering something, Ye Tan hurriedly unbuttoned his collar. He fished out a bottle-shaped pendant from around his neck and pressed it gently, releasing a single white pill.

"Take this!"

Before the words had even left his lips, the pill was already dissolving in Shen Lingyun’s mouth. It was a gift from his goddaughter, housed in a custom pendant his wife had insisted he wear. He had initially resisted, but his wife had threatened to make him sleep in the study if he didn't.

The doctors rushed over. "Make way!"

One of the senior physicians examined him, his expression one of utter bewilderment. He had questions, but with so many people present, he knew better than to pry.

"He’s stable for now, but he needs to go to the hospital for a full examination."

Ye Tan finally exhaled in relief. Shen Lingyun’s complexion had regained some color, and he no longer looked to be in such agony.

"Old Ye, I’m alright now," Shen Lingyun said, his voice still weak.

"Good, good! I’ll go with you to the hospital. Can you walk?"

"I can." As he stood up, he discovered that his body felt completely normal. He was shocked; if it weren't for the fact that he had been on the verge of losing consciousness moments ago, he would have thought he was dreaming. The recovery was impossibly fast.

"Mr. Ye, Mr. Shen, may I accompany you to the hospital?"

The two men looked over to see Qin Sikai, a world-renowned Chinese-American physician who owned his own medical center. He was there to discuss a partnership with the Ye Group. Ye Tan hadn't even noticed him earlier in the chaos.

"Professor Qin, you haven't left yet?" Ye Tan realized it had been two hours since their meeting concluded.

"No, I forgot something and came back to retrieve it. I ran into the commotion and followed along to see if I could help," Qin Sikai said, looking slightly embarrassed. He hadn't brought an assistant, which led to such lapses.

"Fine! Let's go together! We can talk on the way."

The three headed toward the elevator, thanking the staff as the doors closed. Once inside the car, Shen Lingyun spoke first. "Dr. Qin, tell me the truth. What was my condition?"

"I suspect it was acute heart failure. But by the time I arrived, your symptoms were already vanishing. That is why I said it was a suspicion—I am following you to the hospital to get to the bottom of this." Qin Sikai replied truthfully. He had been truly stunned; logically, such a recovery shouldn't have been possible.

"Could it be the pill?" Shen Lingyun had been partially conscious and knew Old Ye had given him something.

A rare, smug smile touched Ye Tan’s face. Shen Lingyun had known him since they were children in diapers; he knew exactly what Ye Tan was doing—fishing for a compliment. But before he could speak, Qin Sikai interjected excitedly, "What pill? Could you let me see it?"

"Old Ye!" Shen Lingyun, now feeling perfectly fine, bellowed with full force.

Does anyone know how immature he is? Hmph! He’s that old and has no shame! Why didn’t he have that pill? The more Shen Lingyun stared at Ye Tan, the angrier he became.

"That was made by my goddaughter. My wife only gave me one. I think it’s called a heart-saving pill. It’s for emergencies, but since I didn't end up needing it, it’s your gain. Remember to pay me!" He raised his voice on the last sentence, ensuring Shen Lingyun wouldn't miss it.

Shen Lingyun glanced at him. "Goddaughter?"

Qin Sikai continued to press, his tone expectant. "Mr. Ye, would you be willing to introduce me to your goddaughter?"

This immediately put Ye Tan on guard. "What kind of scheme are you cooking up? My goddaughter is beautiful, but she’s already married!"

Qin Sikai: "..." Was what he said wrong? Was that even what he meant?

Then he heard Ye Tan continue, "You’ll see at Old Master Lu’s 70th birthday party. I’ll keep it a secret for now, but if you offer the Ye Group more favorable terms, I might consider an introduction!"

This was aimed at Qin Sikai. Qin Sikai agreed immediately; he was incredibly eager to see the efficacy of that pill. "Fine, I will postpone my return to the United States to pay my respects to Old Master Lu!"

Qin Sikai had a connection to the Lu family, though a distant one. This time, he would shamelessly force his way in. Nothing was more important than getting to study that pill and meeting the miraculous doctor.

When they reached the hospital, exams confirmed that his body was in good health, with instructions only to get plenty of rest. Qin Sikai witnessed the entire process; this was the greatest harvest of his trip to China. He was now just waiting for the birthday party, intending to prepare a lavish gift. He had a feeling the pharmacist had a deep connection to the Lu family.

The three parted ways. Ye Tan, being a good sport to the end, drove Shen Lingyun home.

"I'm not going home. I'm going to your place!"

"Why are you going to my place? I have to go to the company!"

"I don't care. Go home and give me a pill! Do you have the heart to watch me go before you?" Shen Lingyun squinted and retorted.

Ye Tan knew Shen Lingyun had no shame, so he gave in. In that situation, if it hadn't been for the pill, Old Shen might not have made it. Besides, he had a goddaughter—if he ran out, he could just ask for more!

"Fine, remember to pay up. I need to give the money to my goddaughter!" Ye Tan still didn't spare him a sharp tongue.

Shen Lingyun: "..." He was likely the wealthiest of them all!

"Don't worry, my life was saved by our goddaughter. I’ll be her backing from now on!" Shen Lingyun promised, patting his chest.

Ye Tan glared at him. "What do you mean 'our'? She’s mine! If you want one, go have your wife give birth to one!"

The two bickered all the way back to the Ye residence. The pills were managed by his wife, so he had to ask for permission. Mrs. Ye, Shu Qing, was both proud and shaken after hearing about the day's events. However, thinking of Wan Ning’s situation, it wouldn't be a bad thing for the Shen family to owe them a favor. She wouldn't let anyone bully Wan Ning again; having an extra powerful ally meant more security.

She calculated for a moment and gave Shen Lingyun four heart-saving pill pendants. Luckily, she had ordered a few extra.

"Take these back and give one to each of your parents. The rest are for you and your wife, Jiang Yin! Don't you dare hoard them! I will call Jiang Yin to verify!" Shu Qing warned with a stern look.

Shen Lingyun felt like he was going to collapse. His reputation was impeccable, so why did everyone change when it came to these pills? He silently set a goal: he would make his unruly sons woo the Ye family’s goddaughter and get his revenge!

Lu Siyan: "..." Delusional!
