Damn! A nosebleed, of all things!

He hurriedly retreated to the bathroom to clean himself up. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he cursed himself silently for being so embarrassing.

Meanwhile, Chu Wanning was still bewildered. Concerned that something might have happened to Lu Siyan, she immediately dialed Lu Bei’s number. The call was answered almost instantly.

"Where is A-Yan? Go check on him, quickly!"

Realizing from her tone that something must be wrong, Lu Bei immediately headed toward the CEO’s office. He knocked, but when no one answered, he barged straight in, arriving just as Lu Siyan was stepping out of the restroom.

"Is there something you need?" Lu Siyan asked coldly. Lu Bei couldn't help but feel that his boss sounded like a man suffering from unfulfilled desires.

"N-no, nothing! The Madam called and asked me to check on you!" Lu Bei explained quickly, valuing his life above all else.

"Get out. I’ll contact her."

Lu Bei spun around and vanished in a flash.

Lu Siyan pulled out his phone and called her back. Chu Wanning had just climbed out of the bathtub.

"Honey, what happened just now? I thought I saw blood. What’s going on?" Chu Wanning asked anxiously, her beautiful fox-like eyes filled with concern. As she spoke, she dried her hair, already planning to head to the office herself.

"It’s nothing, sweetheart. Just a nosebleed from the dry weather," Lu Siyan lied without batting an eye.

Chu Wanning’s lips twitched; she didn’t believe a word of it. She thought back to the scene of her bathing earlier. *No way.* She hadn't done anything, and she had even been trying to submerge herself in the tub! She definitely hadn’t exposed anything she shouldn't have. But since Lu Siyan insisted, she wouldn’t expose him; she might as well indulge him.

"Then come home early after work. I’ll make you some soup to clear your internal heat." Her fourth master had just brought her plenty of medicinal herbs, so she could whip up a medicinal meal.

"Leave it to the chef. Don't go into the kitchen, you’ll tire yourself out," Lu Siyan refused.

"I enjoy cooking. I’m hanging up now. I’ll cook after I pick up Qingbao later. I’m making dinner myself! Mwah! Work hard, honey!"

After hanging up, Chu Wanning headed straight to the storage room. Though it was called a storage room, it was actually a suite on the fourth floor. There were exactly seven rooms, which the butler had tidied up specifically; each master’s gifts occupied its own room, making it easy to find things.

She found a few medicinal herbs and headed to the kitchen to set the soup to simmer. Her soup had far more benefits than just clearing internal heat—it was quite potent. Besides, claiming it was for "internal heat" was just to play along with Lu Siyan.

After getting the kitchen sorted and turning the heat down, Chu Wanning instructed the servants to keep an eye on it. Then, checking the time, she realized it was time to head to school.

At school, little Lu Siqing had expected Uncle Lu Bei to pick him up, so he stood there with his arms crossed, looking like he didn't want anyone to touch him. But the moment he saw Chu Wanning in the car, he instantly reverted back into a cute little ball of fluff.

"Sister-in-law? Sister-in-law, why are you here? I’m so happy!" Lu Siqing abandoned the queue and rushed over to her.

"Slow down. Are you hungry? How about we go home and sister-in-law cooks dinner for you?" Chu Wanning said with a gentle smile, ruffling the little one’s hair.

"Okay! I’ll help sister-in-law!"

Chu Wanning started the car and drove off, completely unaware of the person in a car parked across the street, glaring at her with venomous eyes.

"She didn't die? That must be that bitch Chu Wanning!"

Chu Wanning remained oblivious to this, and even if she had known, she wouldn't have cared.

At the Lu villa, Lu Siqing was in high spirits, hopping out of the car and humming a little tune. Watching him walk with his signature arrogant swagger, Chu Wanning couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Qingbao, take it easy, walk properly!"

"Yes, Qingbao will listen to sister-in-law!"

The butler followed behind them, happily carrying Lu Siqing’s schoolbag. As soon as they entered, the boy dashed into the bathroom to wash his hands, remembering that he had promised to help his sister-in-law cook.

Chu Wanning followed, and after washing up, they both went into the kitchen. Seeing that her soup was nearly ready, she turned off the flame and let it steep, perfect for serving later.

She had prepared everything before leaving, so the kitchen island was already stocked with ingredients. She was making four dishes and a soup: spicy pork ribs, diced beef with bell peppers, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and fish with pickled mustard greens. Since Lu Siyan and Lu Siqing could handle spice, she decided to make a spicy dish—mostly because she was craving it herself.

Lu Siqing was very enthusiastic, but there wasn't much a five-year-old could do. Chu Wanning assigned him the task of washing vegetables, and he stood on a stool, scrubbing them with extreme focus.

Judging that Lu Siyan would be home soon, she began to stir-fry. Chu Wanning felt she was truly gifted; none of the dishes were particularly special, but they smelled exceptionally fragrant as she cooked them.

When Lu Siyan returned, he saw the two of them busy in the kitchen and walked in immediately. "Sweetheart, you’ve worked hard!" He went to hug her but was interrupted by Lu Siqing.

"Brother, hurry and help me down!"

Lu Siyan’s face darkened, but he complied.

Lu Siqing brought the washed vegetables to Chu Wanning like a treasure. "Sister-in-law, I washed them very clean!"

"Qingbao is amazing," Chu Wanning praised as she continued to stir-fry. "I’m almost done, go wait in the dining room!"

Feeling the pressure of his older brother’s gaze, Lu Siqing had no choice but to leave.

"Wife, let me take over, you go rest!" Lu Siyan said, rolling up his sleeves to reach for the spatula.

"Go, go, go! I’m almost done. The last dish is just simple stir-fried greens. Go take the soup to the dining table."

Seeing she was insistent, Lu Siyan had to give up, though he was happy to have been given a task.

Chu Wanning’s cooking was practiced and efficient; the final dish was soon on the table. Lu Siyan had already ladled out three bowls of soup.

"Honey, Qingbao can't have this. This soup is for you. Drink one bowl now, and the other after the meal, okay?" she said, coaxing him as if he were a child.

Lu Siyan curled his lips, casting a triumphant, showy glance at Lu Siqing.

Lu Siqing bit into a piece of pork rib with a vengeance. *Hmph! Childish!*

Chu Wanning noticed their behavior but ignored it. "Hurry and try it, is it good? If you like it, you can eat more! Whenever I have time, I’ll cook for you both. It makes the house feel more like a home."

She placed a rib on Lu Siyan’s plate and a piece of diced beef on Lu Siqing’s.

"Delicious!"

"Delicious!"

They said in unison.

Lu Siyan had eaten plenty of delicacies, but at this moment, just as Chu Wanning had said, a unique warmth surged in his heart.

"Wife, don't overwork yourself. Next time you cook, I’ll join you!" He couldn't let Lu Siqing be the only one helping; he wanted to help too.

"Okay! We can bake cakes, cookies, and make candy together," Chu Wanning replied, looking forward to it.

Such a life had once seemed out of reach, and for a moment, she had the urge to just slack off and enjoy it. She quickly dismissed the thought; if she dared to slack off, her seven masters would surely storm over to keep her in check.

Everyone ate until they were full. Lu Siyan had eaten more than usual—he was stuffed, whereas he usually only ate until he was seventy percent full.

Just as the three of them were finishing their meal, the butler hurried in, breathless!
