Chapter 32: Quietly Tied the Knot!
"I agree!" Lu Siyan's lazy voice echoed in the room.
Old Master Lu, who had been calculating how to prompt his grandson to speak, instantly abandoned his schemes, his expression shifting to one of sheer disbelief.
"Lu Yun, what did this brat just say?"
Lu Yun chuckled, "The young master said he agrees, he agrees!"
Lu Siyan had always been indifferent toward his own life affairs. Having grown up in a prominent family like the Lu clan, he was naturally detached regarding familial affection. However, he knew that while the Old Master was stern, he was one of the few who truly treated him as family, and that was enough.
As the head of the Lu family, it was theoretically improper to have no heir, and the appearance of Lu Siqing had provided him with a convenient excuse to deflect the pressure. Whenever the Old Master brought it up, he would shut it down. Then, one day, Lu Feng suddenly called to say that Lu Siyan had registered his marriage.
He had done it quietly, without a sound!
As an elder, the Old Master felt he owed the girl, Ning, so he immediately investigated her background, only to find she was a pitiful soul. He had spent several days packing gifts to deliver to her at the Lu residence personally.
Ultimately, however, her identity had to be made public; otherwise, if there were children in the future, the rumors would be unbearable—being called an illegitimate child would be the kindest of them. Taking advantage of his current illness, he had tentatively proposed it, worried that his grandson’s paranoid possessiveness would make him unwilling to show such a wonderful wife to the public. Who would have thought he would agree so readily?
The Old Master was overjoyed after the initial shock. It seemed a great-grandchild was on the horizon!
"Good, good! Ning is a clever, sensible girl; she will certainly make a fine lady of the house! Hahaha, this is the best gift for my 70th birthday!"
Lu Siyan glanced at his "cheap" grandfather, his lips twitching slightly.
Chu Wanning had not expected their relationship to be made public so soon. After all, their shotgun marriage had been a transaction. Seeing Lu Siyan’s determined look and the presence of the Old Master, the questions she wanted to ask remained unspoken. She decided she would talk to him when they got home.
"Grandfather, we are heading back now. Wan is tired," Lu Siyan said calmly.
The joy on the Old Master’s face vanished instantly.
Chu Wanning, who had been staring at Lu Siyan in confusion, thought, *I’m not tired!* But if her husband said she was tired, then she was tired.
"Grandfather, I will go back and prepare the medicine for you right away. You must cooperate," Chu Wanning said with a smile.
"Ah, even if I don't listen to anyone else, I will listen to you. Ning is a capable girl!" The Old Master looked at her, then lifted his chin toward Lu Siyan, clearly showing off—look how much his granddaughter-in-law cared for him.
Lu Siyan simply swept her up into his arms and walked away, leaving Chu Wanning to wave goodbye.
The Old Master grumbled at their departing backs for a while, directing his ire at his unfilial grandson who wouldn't even stay for a meal. Seeing the tension, Qi Gui quickly followed them out.
Inside the car, the tips of Chu Wanning's ears were flushed. "You—you shouldn't just pick me up like that in front of Grandfather!" she said, blushing with embarrassment.
Lu Siyan looked indifferent, which only made her angrier.
"Did you hear me?"
Lu Siyan gave a perfunctory grunt of acknowledgment. The next second, he leaned in and silenced her with a kiss.
Lu Bei silently raised the privacy partition. *Do not look, do not listen!*
When the intense, hurried kiss finally ended, Chu Wanning panted, "You... you are bullying me!"
Lu Siyan, satisfied by the kiss, did not deny it. He wasn't bullying his wife; he was pampering her.
"About what Grandfather said regarding the birthday banquet... would you like to reconsider?"
As soon as she spoke, the atmosphere in the car turned icy.
"You don't want to?" Lu Siyan’s voice was cold, his arm tightening around her waist.
*What did he mean, she didn't want to?* She felt her reminder was well-founded. She straightened her expression and continued, "Because our marriage started as a business deal, I just wanted to ask—to save you from any future regrets!"
"Forget it!" Lu Siyan’s tone was absolute and domineering. "Forget it. Wan, I have already fallen for you. From the very first day, I never intended to let go. You promised you wouldn't leave. Can we forget that this was a business transaction? After spending time together, I realized that love at first sight is truly possible."
Chu Wanning was stunned. She wasn't surprised by the meaning of his words, but she was surprised at how beautifully he put them.
"Wan, you are the only wife Lu Siyan will ever have." For all eternity.
"Hmm. My husband is so outstanding, I am very happy to be married to you. I was just afraid you would regret it later. Once it is made public, if things go wrong... it will be very difficult!" She didn't want to say the word "divorce"; she found it repulsive. She had to admit that Lu Siyan had taken root in her heart.
"Wife, I'm going to punish you tonight!"
"Are you sure this isn't just a roundabout way to get a reward?"
"It hurts here!" Lu Siyan placed Chu Wanning's hand over his chest, his voice sounding aggrieved.
"I... I..." Chu Wanning leaned close to his ear and whispered something. Lu Siyan immediately laughed.
Chu Wanning buried her face in his neck, flushed. "Don't laugh!"
"Wife, I'm looking forward to it!"
Chu Wanning thought, *I regret saying that now!*
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Old A. It seemed there were results regarding the Chu family business.
"Uncle A?"
"Miss Ning, all the documents for the Chu Corporation have been sent to your email. Additionally, we discovered that another company is preparing to acquire the Chu Corporation."
Hearing the last sentence, Chu Wanning immediately thought of Lu Siyan.
"Alright, I understand. I'll reach out if there are any other issues."
They were sitting so close that Lu Siyan had heard the conversation even without trying.
"Ayan, you're so good to me!" After hanging up, Chu Wanning hugged him tightly. She hadn't expected him to intervene, let alone so quickly.
"No one gets to bully someone who belongs to Lu Siyan," he said, patting her back gently.
She loved this favoritism.
"The grievances you've suffered, they will experience them back a hundredfold. Let me handle it, okay? I wanted to give you a surprise!"
"Then I'll leave it to you!" Chu Wanning didn't want to refuse. Taking back the Chu Corporation and her mother's house, and ensuring her scumbag father and his family received their due punishment, was something that had to be done.
Meanwhile, Fang Hongyu was also searching for Chu Wanning’s whereabouts. But after Chu Wanning had replaced her SIM card and found the information she needed, she had discarded the card.
Fang Hongyu couldn't find her, and since school hadn't started, it was hard to track her down. They had assumed Chu Wanning was dead and had publicly announced her disappearance—now, she was truly missing.
"That bitch! How dare she not answer my calls! Just wait until she comes back; I'll show her!" Fang Hongyu spat, her face twisted with malice.
