Ye Mugu? Chu Wanning’s mind raced as she tried to recall who this person was. Ye Mugu was a member of the illustrious Ye family, one of the four great clans of the imperial capital. He was among the few close friends Chu Wanning had and a fellow student at Shengding Academy. They were the same age and had a good relationship; their mothers were close confidantes. After Chu Xi’s disappearance, Ye’s mother repeatedly urged Ye Mugu to do everything he could to help Chu Wanning.
At Shengding Academy, Ye Mugu was someone no one dared to cross, so as long as he was around, no one bullied Chu Wanning. This was a source of deep jealousy for her stepsister, Qiu Yuanyuan. That was why the plan on the cruise was deliberately set during Ye Mugu’s overseas competition, after Qiu Yuanyuan had inquired carefully.
Now that Ye Mugu was calling, he had likely just returned to the country. The Qiu family would never volunteer to mention the cruise incident. At this moment, the outside world still didn't know that Chu Wanning was dead. Even if the truth came out, the Qiu family would simply blame Chu Wanning, accusing her of being spoiled and arrogant, running away from home, disappearing.
After all, she was not the only one who died on the cruise. Naturally, someone would handle the bodies and the aftermath, so the Qiu family felt invincible. But they never considered that Chu Wanning was dead, yet Leng Ning had come in her place. She was alive and would become their nightmare.
“Chu Wanning, where are you? I just got back and called you. No one’s bullying you, right? Your godmother wants you to come over for dinner,” Ye Mugu said on the phone, playing a game in the background, his casual tone laced with concern.
He was a connoisseur of tea, especially when it came to her stepsister Qiu Yuanyuan. Upon learning of her constant harassment of Chu Wanning, he would be furious, wishing he could storm the Chu family villa and deal with the scoundrel father still living there. But every time, Chu Wanning would do her best to stop him. Ye Mugu was truly frustrated.
“Okay, got it. I’ll come tomorrow, and I’ll bring someone—no, two! Bye! I’m tired!” Chu Wanning replied in her usual manner and hung up immediately.
She then turned to meet Lu Siyen’s eyes. Why did she feel guilty? Lu Siyen hadn’t heard the details of the call but knew it was a man on the other end, which made him uneasy.
“Ah Yan, that was… my childhood friend Ye Mugu. Aunt Ye asked me to come over for dinner. Can you come with me? They treat me well,” Chu Wanning tentatively asked.
Lu Siyen was now her husband. She had no intention of hiding this from him. As for what the future held, who could say? She was willing to let him into her chaotic life—if he was willing too.
Lu Siyen hadn’t expected that the “someone” she mentioned was him, with the other being Lu Siqing. Regardless, the annoyance he’d felt earlier vanished.
He was also familiar with the Ye family.
“Alright, I’ll go with you! Thanks for bringing me along, wife,” Lu Siyen said with a faint smile, eager to dominantly immerse himself in every aspect of her life.
That subtle smile made Chu Wanning’s heart flutter. Such a handsome man was hers! Just the thought made her happy.
Exhausted, Chu Wanning nestled into the man’s embrace and fell asleep.

With him by her side, she felt completely relaxed, overwhelmed by a sense of safety.
At the estate, Chu Wanning still hadn’t woken. Lu Siyen, enjoying a rare moment of leisure, dozed off with her. The nap lasted until nightfall. As Lu Siyen began to indulge himself, he saw the beauty beside him awaken, her eyes shimmering with desire.
“Wife, did you rest well? Are you hungry?” His voice was husky and enticing.
She instinctively shook her head. “I slept well, not hungry yet!”
Lu Siyen’s eyes brightened. Suddenly, he leaned in, breathing hotly into her neck, tickling her ears.
“But I’m hungry. What should I do?”
“What do you want to eat? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it.” Chu Wanning truly thought he meant his stomach.
“I want to eat you!”
Before she could react, he was already on top of her.
Chu Wanning chuckled softly. “Ah Yan, you’re quite naughty!”
What followed was Lu Siyen showing Chu Wanning what real mischief was. No matter how much she begged, he wouldn’t relent.
They both collapsed in exhaustion, and before sleep claimed her again, she resolved to strengthen her physical training.
She couldn’t lose!
...
The next morning.
The first rays of sunlight filtered into the bedroom as Chu Wanning opened her eyes. Moving slightly, the man beside her stirred awake as well.
“Wife, are you hungry?”
Lu Siyen had wanted to feed her the night before but couldn’t wake her. He felt he’d been too harsh and reminded himself to make sure to feed her first next time.
“No!” Chu Wanning pulled the thin quilt over herself and burrowed back under the covers.
Lu Siyen laughed at her reaction. His voice, deep and sensual, rumbled from his chest.
“Wife, I meant downstairs for breakfast. Where were your thoughts?”
Suddenly, the quilt was pulled away, revealing her fair, smooth face flushed with a rosy hue. She gave Lu Siyen a coquettish glare.
Where indeed had her thoughts been?
Hmph!

She didn’t want to think too much—her wolfish companion by her side made that impossible.
Lu Siyen rubbed his nose, feeling a bit guilty.
“Punish me by letting me serve you!”
With that, he scooped her up, helped her wash and change, then carried her downstairs in one smooth motion.
Just as they sat at the table, Lu Siqing came running toward Chu Wanning.
“Sis-in-law, I didn’t see you all day yesterday. Were you sick? Why did you sleep so long? Every time I ask, you’re still asleep.”
After speaking, he glanced at Lu Siyen sitting beside her. “Brother, I’m just saying: if you can’t take good care of your wife, give her to me!” Then he patted his chest.
Lu Siyen ignored him completely, focusing on serving Chu Wanning food and drink.
Her mouth full, Chu Wanning said, “Qingbao, eat first.”
Lu Siqing obediently sat down but noticed the distance from Chu Wanning was a bit far.
He immediately jumped down and sat on her other side.
“Sis-in-law, I’ll sit here from now on. Being close to you makes food taste better!” He then peeked at Lu Siyen.
Lu Siyen snapped his head up, sending him a sharp look.
Lu Siqing quickly withdrew, feeling the pressure—bloodline suppression!
Chu Wanning swallowed her food, took a sip of milk, and turned to Lu Siqing.
“Sis-in-law is fine. I was just very tired yesterday and slept a lot. This afternoon, I’ll take Qingbao to visit my friend’s house, okay?”
“Okay!” Lu Siqing’s round eyes widened as he replied crisply.
Chu Wanning: “...” No need to answer so decisively.
Lu Siyen had no objections and continued attending to Chu Wanning’s breakfast.
“Ah Yan, you should eat too. You have to eat well from now on!”
“Sis-in-law, Brother is not obedient at all. He often skips meals. I’m obedient—look at me!” Lu Siqing seized every chance to show off.
The servants present: “...” Lord Lu really doesn’t eat well, and the little devil has never been obedient!
Chu Wanning’s lips curled slightly. “Okay, from now on, we’ll supervise Brother together!”
She then took some of her favorite food and put it on Lu Siyen’s plate, her tone commanding, “Eat it!”
Lu Siyen raised an eyebrow, nodded, and complied obediently.
He would always listen to his wife’s words!
