Chapter 14: Is Doing Laundry Equivalent to Suffering?
He Tian taught Wang Xinyou one move.
Wang Xinyou was not satisfied!
“Why only one move?” she complained, her face full of dissatisfaction.
“Only one move? If you can master this one, that’s good enough! Don’t expect to get fat with one bite. That’s impossible! Carefully experience what’s within this move—how to exert force, where to exert, the angle to choose, how to use finesse. There’s much more for you to learn!” He Tian scolded sternly, his face serious and even a little severe.
“Why are you so fierce!” Wang Xinyou felt a little wronged.
“If you want to learn martial arts, you must be strict! Let me tell you, now I just scold you—later I might even hit you! I’ll give you one more chance. Think it over—do you still want to learn from me?” He Tian’s face was expressionless, impartial and cold.
This was He Tian’s way when teaching students.
Only the strictest discipline produces good students.
“I’ll learn!” Wang Xinyou muttered under her breath, “Still being fierce to me!”
“No muttering! Focus! Hit me so I can see!” Though her voice was low, He Tian heard her clearly.
“What ears!” Wang Xinyou grumbled again, but finally started practicing.
“Practice carefully. I’m going for a run!” He Tian urged her before heading out.
If He Tian didn’t run in the morning, he felt uncomfortable all over.
Green Spring Villa Community.
The grounds were vast!
In a big city, to be considered a top villa community, especially a luxury one, if the space wasn’t large enough, it wouldn’t dare call itself high-class...
So, running a lap around the community covered more than ten kilometers!
He Tian also took the opportunity to familiarize himself with the layout.
After ten kilometers, he returned to the Wang family villa.
But Wang Xinyou was nowhere to be seen!
He Tian shook his head slightly... This girl, she doesn’t seem to have much perseverance.
He didn’t see Wang Xinyou, nor Wang Xinmeng. But Aunt Qiu was already up and busy in the kitchen.
He Tian went upstairs to shower, changed his clothes, and came down with the ones he’d changed out of.
“Mr. He, breakfast is ready!” Aunt Qiu was just heading upstairs to call him.
“Alright! Aunt Qiu, from now on just call me He Tian. No more ‘Mr. He’—I’m not used to it!” He Tian replied warmly.
“Alright!” Aunt Qiu answered happily.
“He Tian, come have breakfast!” Wang Xinyou was already seated with Wang Xinmeng and Old Hu, clearly waiting for He Tian.
“Good morning, Old Hu! Morning, Xinmeng!” He Tian smiled as he sat down.
“He Tian, what’s this?” Old Hu looked at He Tian holding his clothes, puzzled.
“Oh, nothing! I found myself a free laundry worker! Miss Wang Xinyou, please wash these for me—by hand, not with the washing machine!” He Tian grinned.
Old Hu and Wang Xinmeng’s eyes widened in disbelief as they looked from He Tian to Wang Xinyou.
“They’re not even dirty! Why wash them?” Wang Xinyou had agreed readily enough yesterday, but now was stunned. That wretched He Tian actually wanted her to wash his clothes by hand! Without a machine! Didn’t he know how to cherish a woman? Was he even a man...
“I just sweated through them. How can I wear them again without washing? Stop making excuses and get to it!” He Tian left her no room to argue.
“Fine, I’ll wash them! Why are you so fierce!” Wang Xinyou realized calling him ‘Brother He Tian’ earlier had been a loss.
He Tian just laughed, “Never mind! Let’s eat!” He took a bun, savoring it, and praised, “Aunt Qiu, your cooking is wonderful! Come eat with us!”
“He... He Tian, if you like it, have more. We’ll eat over here,” Aunt Qiu said, having set out the bowls and chopsticks. The other two maids and Chen Long with his five bodyguards were present.
“It’s delicious!” He Tian didn’t insist further, and started eating heartily.
Wang Xinyou wrinkled her delicate nose and glared at He Tian, then smashed a tea egg hard—as if the egg were He Tian himself.
Only Old Hu and Wang Xinmeng still wore looks of shock.
“He Tian, what’s going on?” Old Hu was truly astonished. He’d been with the Wang family for three years and knew very well what Wang Xinyou was like. Housework? Washing clothes? That had nothing to do with her!
“Xinyou wants to learn martial arts and agreed to wash my clothes. That’s all!” He Tian’s eating was hardly refined, but he enjoyed it immensely.
Practitioners like He Tian, until they reached a high level and could absorb external energy, could only rely on food for sustenance. Their appetites were usually large, and they had high nutritional demands.
That’s why, as the saying goes, poverty befits scholars, wealth befits warriors! Without money, you couldn’t become a martial artist.
So, He Tian cared a lot about his stomach. Whenever he encountered delicious food, he’d eat as much as possible.
“You know how to wash clothes?” Wang Xinmeng asked Wang Xinyou.
“No!”
“Then why did you agree?”
“He suggested it. I could only accept this unequal treaty! Sis, you have to help me! Look at my hands—how can I wash clothes?”
Wang Xinyou immediately sought support in her sister’s concerned gaze.
He Tian, my little sister hasn’t suffered much since she was a child. Let’s just forget it—let her use the washing machine,” Wang Xinmeng pleaded, truly unable to bear seeing her sister suffer.
“You think that’s loving her? You’re wrong! You call this suffering? Stay out of it! In fact, you should support it!” He Tian cracked another tea egg, ignoring Wang Xinmeng’s plea.
Their conversation from the night before had helped He Tian and Wang Xinmeng understand each other much better, so now he was straightforward.
Besides, he meant well!
Washing clothes by hand was hardly suffering. That was laughable.
“Sis, look how he talks to you!” Wang Xinyou was secretly delighted. She knew her sister was soft-hearted but not easily swayed by force. He Tian’s attitude was definitely forceful—she expected a strong counterattack... at least to get out of the hand-washing punishment.
“From now on, listen to He Tian! He’s right; you should toughen up. You can’t always be coddled,” Wang Xinmeng said, dashing Wang Xinyou’s hopes.
Wang Xinyou couldn’t believe her sister had switched sides so quickly...
“Oh, sis, have you been conquered by Brother He Tian? I still have some important details to tell you about what I mentioned earlier!” Wang Xinyou refused to give up and tried again for support.
“You think I believe you?” Wang Xinmeng replied, ignoring her.
Fuming, Wang Xinyou could only vent her anger on the tea egg, taking a big, fierce bite...
It seemed this ‘tragic’ fate couldn’t be changed!
Her mind spun—maybe she could take He Tian shopping today for clothes. Buy lots and lots... then she wouldn’t have to wash them!
With that thought, her mood brightened considerably.
“Thank you for yesterday,” Wang Xinmeng hesitated, then thanked He Tian.
“Don’t think too much—just go with the flow. Don’t overexert yourself, especially with things that trouble you. Sometimes, letting go for a while brings better results. When you come back tonight, I’ll give you another massage. Seven days in a row and your mental fatigue will be completely gone!” He Tian now sounded like a doctor.
In fact, throughout his growth, He Tian had played every role imaginable. He was a versatile talent!
That was the basic requirement for a king of soldiers.
To be a king among warriors was no easy feat—especially as a Dragon Soul’s king of soldiers!
Wang Xinmeng nodded... Last night she’d slept so sweetly, without even dreaming. She loved the feeling of such high-quality rest.
It had been so long since she’d slept so comfortably.
Wang Xinyou’s eyes spun with thoughts, but she kept them to herself.
After breakfast, Old Hu drove Wang Xinmeng to the company.
“Miss, did you talk to He Tian yesterday?” Old Hu asked steadily as he drove, glancing at Wang Xinmeng in the back seat.
“We talked. He told me everything,” she answered.
“He did? What could he tell you?” Old Hu smiled.
“Uncle Hu... are you still hiding things from me? My father is gone,” Wang Xinmeng said softly. Yet, as she spoke, she appeared calm. Evidently, after last night’s emotional turmoil, she’d accepted the truth.
“Sigh... Miss, I never really wanted to hide it from you. You already suspected, I could see that,” Old Hu sighed.
As for He Tian’s choice, Old Hu had no say.
He didn’t know much about He Tian’s background, but he knew He Tian wasn’t someone he could control.
He Tian’s words and Wang Xinmeng’s reaction were enough to make things clear—what more could he say?
“I don’t blame you,” Wang Xinmeng said quietly, looking out the window.
“I was afraid you’d take a reckless path. That wouldn’t help you find the real culprit and would only put you in danger,” Old Hu explained.
“I understand. I’ll act normal and cooperate. But... Uncle Hu, we must find the killer. Whatever it takes!” Wang Xinmeng’s calm exterior hid her true feelings. After all, it was her father—one day he was there, the next he was gone.
“Miss... He Tian is very well-connected and powerful. He’ll investigate the murderer. I’m just an assistant now,” Old Hu said, accepting his position. Some of He Tian’s words had struck a chord with him.
“He Tian...” Wang Xinmeng murmured his name.
Old Hu drove on steadily. For him, keeping Wang Xinmeng safe was more important than finding the culprit.
“Any news about yesterday’s gunman?” Wang Xinmeng asked.
“Nothing yet. He’s probably already fled the city. Even if we investigate, we won’t find the real instigator,” Old Hu replied.
“We still have to try! Someone tried to kill my sister—whoever it is, I want him dead!” If Wang Xinmeng had been born a man, she’d have been a formidable figure indeed.
“I understand. I’ll look into it,” Old Hu nodded.
He was no longer surprised by Wang Xinmeng’s decisiveness.
Her achievements in business had been forged through countless battles. Without courage and decisiveness, she could never have come this far.
If she weren’t a woman, Old Hu would’ve considered taking her as his apprentice.
What a pity...
