Chapter 111: Wukong's Assistance

Soft moonlight spilled into He Tian’s room.

The faint murmur of waves drifted in from afar, making the silence within the room seem even deeper.

He Tian sat cross-legged on the bed, cultivating the Nine Dragons United as One.

Inner force circulated again and again within his body, slowly building, little by little.

The temptation he had endured over there with Cao Xiaomin had truly made him ache to improve as soon as possible.

In the end, he had managed to restrain himself.

But Cao Xiaomin’s image refused to leave his mind no matter what.

It was the cruelest torture in the world, at least as He Tian now felt it to be.

The fourth dragon.

He Tian desperately needed to break through to the realm of the fourth dragon.

Wukong lay beside his bed, its eyes fixed on He Tian as he cultivated.

It was deeply attached to He Tian.

When He Tian went out, that was one thing; it would make do by spending time with others for a while. But as long as He Tian was at home, Wukong would never leave his side. Even when He Tian slept or rested, Wukong would squeeze into his room.

Before the forest around the villa had truly taken shape, He Tian could hardly say anything about Wukong’s behavior.

After all, it had followed him all the way out here, and being more attached to He Tian was only natural.

Slowly, He Tian ended his practice.

Though he had made some progress, he was still only at the middle tier.

There was still a long way to go before the fourth layer of inner force.

He had not even reached the upper tier yet; how could he dare hope to enter the fourth layer of inner force?

One has to eat a meal one bite at a time, and cultivation too must be taken step by step.

He Tian stood by the window, gazing at the distant sea.

His mood gradually calmed as well.

Cultivation could not be rushed. If it was rushed, it could not be cultivated.

This was something the Dragon Head had instilled in him since childhood, and what made He Tian somewhat ashamed was that he had just now forgotten every last bit of it.

That realization made him quietly alert to himself.

He must absolutely not take the wrong path because of this.

Suddenly, He Tian felt Wukong tugging at the hem of his pants.

He crouched down and looked at Wukong. “Are you feeling bored? It’ll get better slowly. See that huge stretch of land outside? I’m going to build a forest for you there. It can’t compare to the home you had before, but in this big city, it’s already no easy thing for me to make a place like that for you.”

He Tian knew Wukong was highly intelligent, so when he spoke to it, he never bothered to choose his words too carefully.

Wukong pointed at him and squeaked insistently.

“You want to sense that aura?” He Tian immediately understood.

Wukong nodded at once.

He Tian felt a little helpless, but he also knew very well that it was precisely the inner force aura of the Nine Dragons United as One that had attracted Wukong. Otherwise, whether he could have come away safely from that demon forest in Myanmar would truly have remained unknown.

Since Wukong needed his help, He Tian naturally would not refuse.

He began to circulate his power at once.

The three circulation channels connected to one another. Together they formed a single dragon, yet upon closer inspection they were actually three dragons.

The three dragons roamed ceaselessly within He Tian’s body.

If one could see through his clothes and skin, one would discover that these three dragons were remarkably alive.

A look of determination appeared on Wukong’s face.

Then, to He Tian’s astonishment, even bordering on shock, it suddenly lunged forward and bit hard into his leg.

The pain itself was nothing.

He Tian simply did not understand why Wukong had done that.

Wukong bit once, then let go.

Before He Tian could even ask what was going on, he suddenly felt a warm current surge into the spot that had been bitten.

And that current was extremely fierce, so fierce that He Tian felt as though he had been thrown in an instant into a searing mass of flame.

Wukong’s face was filled with unmistakable exhaustion.

Its spirit seemed to have sagged all at once, as if it had weakened greatly in an instant. And yet it still looked at He Tian with concern, gesturing toward him again and again.

He Tian instantly understood Wukong’s meaning.

He hurriedly sat cross-legged on the floor and focused every ounce of his mind on circulating the power of the three-dragons inner force.

What shocked He Tian even more was that the heat current, now spread through his entire body, seemed to have found its rightful place once the three-dragons inner force began to operate, and it surged toward it madly.

Then, without exception, it was absorbed into the three-dragons inner force, merging with it and making it even stronger.

He Tian was filled with astonishment.

What exactly was this heat current?

Not only could it strengthen his inner force, it also seemed to require no refining at all, as though it met with no resistance whatsoever.

He Tian was full of confusion.

But the increasingly violent current left him no time to think about what was happening.

He could only devote himself completely to cultivation, or else he felt he might truly be roasted alive.

What He Tian did not know was that after he threw himself fully into cultivation, the monkey beside him, Wukong, appeared even more exhausted.

And yet, seeing He Tian striving so hard in his practice, a lively and delighted look appeared on Wukong’s face.

Then it could no longer hold on and simply fainted.

What He Tian did not know was that Wukong was not an ordinary monkey at all, but an exceedingly rare dragon ape.

And as a dragon ape, it was extraordinarily sensitive to dragon aura.

The Nine Dragons United as One that He Tian cultivated carried, after all, a trace of dragon aura.

That was the true reason Wukong had treated He Tian differently.

And as a dragon ape, Wukong possessed not only remarkable intelligence, but also a power utterly beyond that of ordinary beasts: it was born with its own dragon aura.

And now, it had directly transferred a portion of that dragon aura to He Tian.

That was the fundamental reason He Tian had absorbed it without sensing the slightest conflict.

Of course, even Wukong did not know whether this would truly be effective for He Tian.

As for the harm caused by losing this dragon aura, it could slowly recover.

The sun leaped up from the sea.

Its light spilled across the water, and the entire ocean shimmered with layer upon layer of gold.

A beam of sunlight fell across He Tian’s face.

Sensing the warmth brought by the sun, He Tian slowly opened his eyes.

The heat current within his body had already vanished.

In its place was immense inner force.

A smile appeared at the corner of He Tian’s mouth.

The upper tier.

He Tian had now reached the upper tier of inner-force cultivation.

More than that, he had even reached the level where he could begin to charge toward the fourth layer of inner force.

Within the span of a single night, he had made such enormous progress that even He Tian found it hard to believe.

He had never before encountered improvement at this speed.

“Wukong...”

He Tian immediately thought of who had brought all of this about, and naturally, Wukong came to mind.

He quickly looked around, and when he saw Wukong lying in front of him, its face full of exhaustion it could not hide, fast asleep and breathing heavily, his eyes flashed with gratitude.

Without question, although there were still many things He Tian had not fully understood, there was one thing he was absolutely clear about.

All of this had come because Wukong had wanted to help him.

And such help seemed to have caused Wukong considerable harm.

How could that not fill He Tian’s heart with gratitude?

A monkey, yet willing to help him so much—there was no reason to doubt the sincerity of that feeling.

He Tian quietly stood up.

He sat back down on the bed and silently watched Wukong sleeping soundly.

Though Wukong did not seem to be in any serious trouble, He Tian still could not quite put his mind at ease. He had to ask clearly before he could truly feel reassured.

Yet all those doubts were also a tremendous torment to He Tian.

He Tian turned on the computer, briefly described his condition, and sent it to the Dragon Head.

He hoped to receive an answer that would clear up his confusion.

But before any reply from the Dragon Head arrived, he heard a knock at the door.

“He Tian gege, you big lazybones, why are you still not up?”

Wang Xinrou’s voice came from outside. She had gotten up very early, thinking of going to train in martial arts, only to find no sign of He Tian at all.

When she asked Lazy Cat, she was told that He Tian still had not come out.

In Wang Xinrou’s view, that could only mean he was still asleep.

That made her rather puzzled. How could He Tian be lying in so late? She had never encountered such a thing before.

So, with a trace of worry and a touch of curiosity, Wang Xinrou had come to knock on his door.

“My dear little auntie, could you not speak so loudly?” He Tian sprang to the door in a single stride, opened it, and said in a low voice.

“What’s wrong?” Seeing He Tian like this, Wang Xinrou unconsciously lowered her own voice.

“Wukong is sleeping! Come on, let’s talk outside,” He Tian said, not allowing any argument as he pulled Wang Xinrou away from the doorway just as she was about to peek into the room, then quietly closed the door.

Every room in the villa had the best soundproofing materials.

The doors were the same.

Only after closing the door did He Tian finally relax.

“He Tian gege, what on earth is going on?” Wang Xinrou widened her eyes and asked, completely baffled.

“What do you mean, what’s going on? Wukong is sleeping, and you were making such a racket. Were you trying to wake it up?” He Tian said irritably.

“Seriously? He Tian gege, do you have any sense at all? Wukong... if it’s sleeping, then let it sleep. Why are you so nervous?” Wang Xinrou blinked and said suspiciously, “You didn’t do anything to it, did you? He Tian gege, I really never would have guessed. Your tastes are so unusual.”

“What exactly is going on in that head of yours? I’d really like to open it up and take a look,” He Tian said, utterly speechless. “The situation is complicated, but it is absolutely not what you’re imagining.”

“Then what is it really like? If you tell me, I won’t suspect you anymore,” Wang Xinrou said, blinking her eyes, her face full of curiosity.

“Wukong is a spirit beast. Yesterday it helped me with my cultivation, and I improved enormously. But at the same time, its own consumption was enormous as well. It’s extremely exhausted now. I can’t even be sure whether it’s truly safe yet,” He Tian said, glaring at Wang Xinrou. “Satisfied now? And you still had to go knocking on the door... honestly, I’m impressed. Why not start training by yourself if I’m not around?”

“I didn’t know it was like that! I was only worried about you,” Wang Xinrou said rather aggrievedly.
