Although Shen Yuxuan had not suffered any serious harm in this incident, one of her people had died and two others were injured. Being a woman, she had never encountered such a situation before, and as the police arrived, she finally felt a sense of relief.

"Thank you so much for this time. If you hadn't been there when I offered to drive you back, I fear..." Reflecting on what had just happened, Shen Yuxuan still felt a lingering fear. Had she not encountered Yang Qi, with both of her bodyguards incapacitated, she truly didn't know what might have happened next.

"Perhaps it was fate. If you hadn't insisted on giving me a ride, I wouldn't have been in a position to save you," Yang Qi said with a faint smile.

Shen Yuxuan nodded slightly, but her brow suddenly furrowed. Her face pale with pain, she clutched her right arm.

"What's wrong?" Seeing this, Yang Qi asked immediately.

"I think I was cut by glass when the car window shattered," Shen Yuxuan said, glancing at her arm with a wry smile. She had been so tense before that she hadn't even noticed it; only now, as she began to relax, did the pain set in.

"Let me help you over to rest," Yang Qi said, noticing that while the wound wasn't deep, it was bleeding quite a bit.

Shen Yuxuan hesitated for a moment, then nodded. With Yang Qi’s assistance, she walked toward the side of the road.

"Don't move! Hands up!"

At that moment, the screech of brakes echoed, followed by a loud shout.

Hearing the command, Yang Qi and Shen Yuxuan looked toward the police car nearby. A female officer in uniform had jumped out with her pistol drawn, followed by several capable-looking patrol officers.

"I'm talking to you! You're surrounded! Release the hostage at once!" The policewoman stared vigilantly, her gun aimed directly at Yang Qi, clearly prepared to fire if he did not comply.

The officers behind her, who had swarmed out of the vehicle, also quickly drew their weapons. They knew that the person in Yang Qi’s hands was the head of Shen’s Jewelry; if anything happened to her, their careers would be over.

Facing seven or eight guns pointed at him, Yang Qi’s mouth twitched. He hadn't expected his first encounter with a real firearm to happen under such circumstances.

"Officer... no, comrade police officer..."

"Don't try to get friendly. Surrender immediately and aim for leniency," the policewoman interrupted coldly before he could finish.

"Pfft—"

At that moment, Shen Yuxuan couldn't help but laugh.

"Officer, I was the one who called the police. This is a friend of mine, and the robbers have already been subdued," Shen Yuxuan explained quickly.

"Oh," the policewoman said, stunned, a hint of embarrassment crossing her face.

"Honestly, you could have said that sooner, instead of misleading the police investigation!" The policewoman pouted, signaling her colleagues to lower their weapons.

Yang Qi was left speechless. He had wanted to say something, but had she given him the time or opportunity? She had labeled him a kidnapper the moment she arrived!

"Do I look that much like a robber?" Yang Qi asked, his face darkening.

"A little bit," Shen Yuxuan admitted with a nod, struggling to suppress a smile.

The other officers looked equally awkward as they began to survey the scene.

"Captain, the six robbers are unconscious. They are all severely injured, but there are no obvious knife wounds. It looks like they were beaten," one officer reported to the policewoman.

"Beaten down six robbers with his bare hands?" The policewoman’s eyes lit up. These were six armed, burly men; even the elite of the municipal bureau wouldn't dare claim they could subdue them so easily.

Since only two people remained conscious on Shen Yuxuan's side, it was obvious who had taken down the robbers. With this thought, the policewoman turned her gaze toward Yang Qi.

Yang Qi, who was busy giving his statement, sensed her gaze and looked up.

"Xiao Liu, I’ll take his statement," the policewoman said, walking over to the officer who was interviewing Yang Qi.

"Yes, Captain," the officer replied, handing over the notes.

"Yang Qi, senior at Qingzhou University, born in Qingchuan..." The policewoman read from the notes before adding, "There’s nothing unusual in your record."

"But I assume it was you who severely injured the robbers," she said, looking straight at him.

"It was me. I practiced some martial arts with the monks at a temple in my hometown when I was a child," Yang Qi replied calmly. There was no point in hiding it, and he had already prepared the excuse.

"Looking at your background, you seem entirely ordinary. I find it strange how you ended up with the chairwoman of Shen’s Jewelry, and in the same car, no less!" The policewoman said, her sharp gaze seemingly trying to see through him.

Yang Qi’s record showed he was an incredibly average college student—one of thousands in Qingzhou. It made no sense for a completely unremarkable student to have any connection to the head of Shen’s Jewelry. One was a face in the crowd of millions, and the other was a renowned jeweler in Qingchuan. That they were in the same vehicle was highly suspicious.

"I didn't realize it, but you don't have very good judgment, though you are quite observant," Yang Qi remarked. The previous officer hadn't asked that question, so it wasn't in the notes.

"Answer the question honestly," the policewoman said, her expression hardening. The earlier misunderstanding had cost her some authority, and her team was feeling the awkwardness.

"I think I should answer that," a cool voice intervened. It was Shen Yuxuan, who had finished her statement. "Mr. Yang is the jade-betting consultant for Shen’s Jewelry."

"A jade-betting consultant?" The policewoman blinked. As a criminal investigation captain, she knew what that was, but she hadn't expected Yang Qi to hold such a position.

Shen Yuxuan briefly explained how she had met Yang Qi and why she had hired him.

After hearing her explanation, the policewoman realized there was nothing suspicious about Yang Qi and handed him the statement to sign.

"My name is Luo Bing. We may need you to assist with the investigation later, so be prepared," Luo Bing said coldly.

Yang Qi nodded. Although he had thwarted the robbery, the target had been Shen Yuxuan of Shen’s Jewelry, and her bodyguard had been killed. This was no minor matter.

Soon, an ambulance arrived. Under police escort, the injured robbers and Ah Long were taken to the hospital. Shen Yuxuan and Yang Qi followed, as she needed her wound treated. By the time everything was settled in the evening, Yang Qi was finally driven back to Qingzhou University in a car sent by Shen Yuxuan.

"Mr. Yang, Miss Shen asked me to give this to you," the driver said, handing him an envelope.

"This is..." Feeling the envelope, Yang Qi could tell it contained a bank card.

"This is a token of gratitude from the Miss. Please accept it, Mr. Yang," the driver said.

Yang Qi nodded, decided not to be overly modest, and accepted it. "Please convey my thanks to Ms. Shen."
