Chapter 16: A Maiden's Sentiment
Evening, Yang City, in front of the second-floor window of a large villa.
A middle-aged couple, the man handsome and the woman beautiful, watched as a car slowly drove out of their driveway.
“Honey, do you think our daughter is going on a date? Are you sure you don’t want to stop her?” the middle-aged beauty asked, glancing at her husband.
“Stop her?” he replied.
“Why would I stop her?”
“That Huang boy’s reputation wasn’t great before, but hasn’t he turned over a new leaf now?”
“The Huang family’s background isn’t any less impressive than ours. Besides, Huang Feiyang is the only heir of the third generation. Letting Ruoruo love freely is better than forcing her into an unwanted marriage, right?” The handsome middle-aged man shook his head calmly.
“!” The woman was rendered speechless by her husband’s words—they were undeniably true.
...
Yang City, downtown, pedestrian street.
As night fell after dinner, Huang Feiyang and Chen Xiruo walked side by side.
“In a few days, I’ll be heading to the capital to study!”
“Are you done with your business over there?” Chen Xiruo blinked curiously as she glanced at Huang Feiyang.
She knew about Huang Feiyang’s entrepreneurial ventures, but what exactly he was doing was a mystery to her.
“Not bad, really! I have professional managers handling the operations. I just steer the big picture,” Huang Feiyang smiled, shrugging.
“Then... what kind of business are you in exactly?” Chen Xiruo asked hesitantly, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“If it’s inconvenient to say, it’s fine,” she added softly.
“There’s nothing I can’t tell you, but you have to promise to keep it secret.” Huang Feiyang gently pinched her cheek with his right hand, smiling.
“Okay!” Chen Xiruo patted his hand away playfully, her cheeks flushed as she nodded.
“You know X Mobile, right? Its parent company, FY Tech, is wholly owned by me! And Huang International Investment is my company too, as well as Future Network.”
“All three companies are 100% owned by me. To avoid unnecessary trouble, I gave some shares to the executives as dividends and made them legal representatives. Of course, only top management has dividend rights...” Huang Feiyang yawned and stretched, speaking slowly.
“!” Chen Xiruo was stunned, her eyes wide with shock.
The three companies Huang Feiyang mentioned were extremely well-known.
FY Tech—was there any company more prominent in the country recently? Its X Mobile phones, three models, had taken the entire nation by storm. Rumor had it that they had raked in at least hundreds of millions in revenue lately.
Huang International Investment? She had read news about it not long ago. It seemed to hold a controlling stake in Penguin.
And Future Network had recently spent over thirty million to acquire a game that was all over the headlines.
All three belonged to this guy?
Gasping inwardly, Chen Xiruo drew a sharp breath.
“How did you manage all this?” she finally blurted out, admiration shining in her eyes.
“Not bad, really. Just lucky,” Huang Feiyang answered with a calm smile.
Being reborn like this was absurd enough, and his family background had completely transformed. That had to be luck, right? he thought quietly.
“...” Chen Xiruo rolled her eyes at his modesty.
Luck? Could luck really explain all this?
At the same time, anxiety crept into her heart.
Huang Feiyang was so outstanding, and his companies were rising rapidly. Could she really support him in the future?
These thoughts made her uneasy.
“I’m still me.” Seeming to sense her worry, Huang Feiyang took her hand and gently stroked her hair with the other, smiling.
“Mm,” Chen Xiruo nodded softly, a charming smile curving her lips.
She thought to herself, “I thought he was a blockhead after all!”
Hand in hand, they strolled down the pedestrian street.
At first, Chen Xiruo was tense, but soon she relaxed completely. Her usually icy face would occasionally brighten with genuine smiles.
One had to admit, girls’ shopping stamina could be surprisingly fierce.
Even an ice-cold beauty like Chen Xiruo was no exception.
After several hours, she still felt unsatisfied.
What amused Huang Feiyang was that she had bought quite a few things—all stubbornly paid for with her own pocket money.
As she said, “Mom told me not to spend boys’ money casually!”
Late into the night, after a late-night snack, Huang Feiyang finally saw Chen Xiruo home.
Once inside, he fell into deep thought.
So? What exactly was their relationship now?
Lovers? Not quite.
Ambiguous? Seems like it.
Somewhere between ambiguity and love?
Looks like he needed to find the right moment to confess, he thought.
Inside Chen Xiruo’s family villa, in the living room downstairs, her parents looked on with amused smiles.
“Ruoruo, it’s half past eleven now.”
“Usually, you never stay out past nine, right?”
“Where did you go tonight?” her mother teased as she looked at her precious daughter.
Her father smiled warmly at her as well.
“Aw, you’re so annoying!” Chen Xiruo pouted and blushed as she went upstairs.
She was sure her parents knew exactly where she had been.
Besides, she had bodyguards following her at a distance the whole time.
At the same time, a sense of relief—and a little secret joy—filled her heart.
It seemed that Mom and Dad wouldn’t stop her from being with Huang Feiyang.
Hehe.
But thinking of how outstanding Huang Feiyang was now, she felt a twinge of insecurity again.
Handsome, accomplished, and now a young achiever.
Surely he would attract many girls.
No way!
She had to keep other girls away from him!
Hmph!
Huang Feiyang was hers and hers alone!
