Chapter 153 Dragonborn
"Ah!"
A series of agonizing shrieks echoed through the space. Ahead, several burly men writhed on the ground, their bodies a bloody, mangled mess, looking utterly tormented.
Witnessing this, the burly man who had previously brought Aderis over stood up. The look in his eyes as he gazed at Aderis now carried a trace of apprehension.
A powerful demonic energy emanated from his body, no longer concealed, and locked in opposition with Aderis.
Yet, facing this oppressive force, Aderis's expression remained entirely unchanged. He merely watched quietly ahead, his body devoid of any movement.
He appeared completely relaxed, seemingly without the slightest defense. However, in the perception of the man opposite him, a formidable surge of blood qi was growing increasingly palpable, gradually permeating the surroundings and making the man dare not act rashly.
After a long while, the man looked at Aderis before him and suddenly smiled. "So, you're one of our own."
"Which king sent you?"
He asked, staring at Aderis, clearly having mistaken his identity.
Hearing this, Aderis nodded, though he still remained silent.
"Not convenient to say?" The man shrugged upon seeing this. "Forget it. Since we're of the same kind, it doesn't matter."
"You can call me Adi." He put away his weapon, feeling somewhat bored, and then quietly walked backward.
Beside him, several men with demonic markings on their faces stepped forward silently, lifting the groaning men from the ground and carrying them to the other side.
Seeing this, Aderis watched Adi's broad back and quietly followed.
As they proceeded, cages lined the path one after another. Inside them sat naked men and women, young and old alike, their bodies covered densely with horrifying scars, presenting a gruesome sight.
As Aderis and Adi walked in, the captives instantly shrank back, their bodies trembling instinctively, their faces twisted with expressions that looked near collapse.
"These livestock have been drained for too long and hold little value anymore. If you like, I can give you a few," Adi said, glancing back as Aderis looked around.
"No need," Aderis replied casually.
He looked at the individuals around him, whose minds were nearly shattered, and secretly frowned.
"Though these people still look to be in their prime, the life essence within them is almost completely exhausted. Even if I were to step in and rescue them, they wouldn't live much longer."
He muttered inwardly: "However, upon arriving here, that pull of fate has grown even stronger. It is right ahead."
Ahead, as they walked further, a heavy door stood tall.
Seeing the door, Adi waved his hand, and a man beside him understood, pulling out a key to unlock it.
Instantly, Aderis's heart skipped a beat as faint visions seemed to continuously flood into his mind.
"These are some fresh goods over here, but the price is not cheap," Adi said, looking at Aderis.
Ahead, light gradually appeared, seemingly directly connected to the outside. There were many cells here as well, though far fewer than in the previous area.
Inside, young boys and girls were locked away. Upon seeing Aderis and his group enter, they immediately let out low, terrified sounds.
However, these individuals still possessed relatively sound minds, and their bodies bore no scars, untouched as yet.
Up ahead, a stiff-faced old man stepped forward. Scales were visible on his body, indicating a thorough demonic transformation.
He chuckled in a low, eerie tone, looking at Adi and the others. "Lord Adi, what brings you here?"
"Dean, take this lord to inspect this batch of cargo," Adi said, showing a flicker of impatience as he waved his hand to give the order.
Dean raised his head, looking at Aderis with a hint of surprise. "This lord, please follow me."
"This batch of cargo was all transported here from various places over the past few months. They are all very fresh, and I originally planned to send them north in a couple of days as offerings to the various kings." Dean walked in front, looking at the naked figures around him with a greedy expression as he explained.
He walked up to a cell and pointed to a newly-grown, pretty young girl inside. "My lord, how
